Read Frights review for this awhile back and ive been interested ever since, I like finding lil 80's gems. Finally ended up checking it out today from netflix today and im glad I did. This flick is a lot different from most 80s slasher flicks. It isn't some masked killer running around killing a bunch of sex crazed teenagers. This movie is about a woman in her 50's who plays a journalist who is speaking against violence on women. This enrages a psychopath, played amazingly evil as always by Michael Ironside, who tracks her down and attacks her. She lives through the attack and is sent to the hospital, where the killer keeps trying to come back and finish the job.
Like I said before this movie doesn't rely on your typical 80's slasher fare to win the audience over. This ones more about suspense. Theres not a big body count, and when there is a death theres little to no blood. And while that might sound boring it actually works in this movie. Ironside plays a great crazy guy in this flick. He barely speaks in this movie which makes him that much more menacing. Unlike most killers you get to see his daily life, a secluded womanizer who through flashbacks you can tell hates women because his mother harmed his abusive father badly. He is relentless in his persuit of Deborah (our leading lady) and you actually get closer to the edge of the couch every time he gets just a little bit closer to her. If your into serial killer flicks this is deffinatly one you should check out. And I can't mention this movie without mentioning deborah's boss in this movie, none other than William Shatner himself. Still lookin all back in the day captain kirk style. Priceless. Check this flick out if you havent.
