just checked this out on Netflix. Gotta say it was an enjoyable movie. Seeing Jack Palance and Martin Landau play crazy people was really fun to watch. And Donald Pleasence, well we all love him. This is about an insane asylum where a new doctor has gotten a job. Up on the third floor is where they keep all the really bad guys. A paranoid ex-military man played by Palance, a crazy religious nut called "the preacher" played by Landau and a fat guy who molests children and a really creepy killer called the bleeder, who for some reason always gets a nose bleed when he's to excited and ready to kill. And he always hides his face.
They get the idea in their heads that the new doctor has killed the man he is replacing, they liked the old doctor so they want him dead. One day the power goes out and a riot breaks out all over town, the patients escape and they go for the new doctor and his family in their home. Good suspensful lil flick here. Donald Pleasance acted stranger than normal in this movie, like dr. loomis on shrooms. But I liked him in this. Although I wish there would have been more with his character towards the end. Jack Palance and Martin Landau are great in this movie. And theres an interesting little twist in the end that I actually didn't see coming. If your into the "escaped mental patient" flicks of the 80s you should really check this out. Not extremely bloody, but the intense parts are good. Theres a scene involving the babysitter in the bedroom that I really enjoyed. Made me laugh cuz in these kinds of movies these babysitter characters always have things like this happen to them. I gave it a 5 out of 5 on netflix, not because it was just THAT good. But because it deserved a better rating. Its got like a 2 and a half right now.
