Could have been MUCH MUCH MUCH better than it actually was. Good concept, but poor execution. The Monsters themselves look pretty cool, but they can't save a terribly boring movie.

I just watched this on the watch now list on netflix and GOD was it boring. I thought I would be interested in it. I heard it wasn't really a horror movie (then you probably shouldnt call it monsters) It was just a movie thats backdrop happend to be an infected zone of mexico with alien creatures living there. I thought well it could be very interesting so I checked it out. The movie had good parts, this was a good idea with some good parts wrapped up in a bad movie. The best part of the movie was when they are in the jungle at night trapped in the vehicles with one of the monsters outside. The monsters themselves were really cool. Sorta these big Cthulhu lookin things. But the movie just drags on and on and on. Its just these 2 people going on about how they are gonna get back to the states, it has little to nothing to do with the monstes in the movie until the last 30 minutes or so. Then the abrupt stupid ending doesn't help.

I wanna check this out but it seems like Cloverfield is better than this, and that sucked too. I want a MONSTER MOVIE that HAS MONSTERS IN IT! dammit.

Finally caught this and enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it horror either, but sci-fi lite? Was still good IMO though, I didn't even mind the cut away ending.
