(Hong Kong) Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010)

Now that we have a few films about Lee's teacher IP Man, filmmakers are now delivering a new one about Lee himself. Bruce Lee, My Brother is the new film, which tells the story of Lee before he became the legend, as told by his brother Robert. The film looks promising, but I'm not sure how much action will be present in it, as it seems to be depicted more as a drama.

Lee is being played by some guy called Aarif Li, whom I've never heard of. We'll see if he can pull it off after the movie comes out. Speaking of which, it's released in Hong Kong in November, so hopefully a download will be available soon



I'm surprised a new Bruce Lee movie hadn't been made sooner. The last one I remember seeing was Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story that starred Jason Scott Lee, way back in 1993.

It seems Tony Leung Ka Fai is featured a lot in the trailer. Don't know who the guy is who's playing Bruce Lee either, but he is a singer whose mentor is said to be Leon Lai (one of the four King of Pop in HK). Both of the actresses are Michelle Ye Xuan and Christy Chung.

Doesn't look very good, which is probably why I haven't heard of it

Did more checking and it's actually just a spliced-together Chinese television series, which technically wouldn't make it a movie

The Bruce Lee story has already been told enough times, pass...

Just caught the flick -- it's aight. Anyone expecting much fighting will be sorely disappointed, as it's really just about Lee's life as an actor, mixed with some family drama and a little romance along the way. The only fighting is in the last 30-or-so minutes and it's only a couple times against some boxer. They also hastily brush over his trainings with master Yip Man, which was also disappointing.

It's a decent flick overall, but I was hoping for a bit more action or fighting at least, especially considering Bruce street-fought so much growing up, another point which was merely brushed over. In fact, the friends that Bruce hung out with in the film would reference him being a good fighter in the neighborhood a few times, yet we'd never see any fighting

Anyone lookin' to see Lee's life outside of the fighting check this out, otherwise, I'd advise skipping it 6/10
