    My dad wants to see this so I'll check it out when the DVD is available.
    We used to call Anime Japanimation when I was growing up.
    As far as the discussion it would seem to me that the majority of Anime fans out there have turned Anime into its own distinct Genre specific monster. There are a lot of kid based Anime and a lot of adult based cartoons, but I've always seen them as completely separate entities as well as my childhood friends who have grown up to be Anime fans. Don't care to take sides here, just my thought on the derailed subject matter.

    It's not a genre or even a style though. Anime going mainstream did more to further common misconceptions than deeper understanding and appreciation, unfortunately. Anime fans are largely responsible for this and I hold myself guilty at some point or other.

    Of course, enjoyment of something isn't necessarily dependent on full awareness and folks enjoying what they enjoy is, generally, the most relevant thing.
