Land is watchable... bad but watchable. Diary is down right terrible. Amd Surivial is a joke... guy had a run, run ended, and he hasn't been able to catch up to his past. Its a joke that they're letting him direct the remake of Deep Red, because only thing he can do is fuck it up.

How can you say he's going to fuck it up? You don't know that. Ok, you don't like his last few movies but I think he will stick to the story and add some of his brilliance to the finished product...in the end a remake finally worth something. Not to out shadow the original but to compliment it.

... he couldn't even compliment his own movies with the shit he has made. How is he going to compliment someone elses classic in Deep Red. Argento (who has made some shit lately) probally just figured he'll throw a bone to his friend. Dace it... since Day, Romero hasn't made a good movie. I understand you and Splt are fans of his, but you need to come to grips and realized he has sucked since the 80's. My fave. director is John Carpenter, but I am the first to tell you since In the Mouth of Madness, he hasn't made a good movie.

Exactly wooden! I am sure a 'Deep Red' remake done by Romero will be brilliant, especially if he teams up with Savini for the practical effects.
What about the TV show he did? I found the DVDs for them and from the stills they look fantastic.

Deadtime stories? Not a huge fan of IMDB's ratings but according to them their shit... but since I think he is a shit director now... seems plausible.

But what you don't seem to understand is I like his last few movies. Not so much Diary but Survival I liked. He's allowed a mistake every once in awhile. So I don't need to come to grips on anything. He is a great Director. I am not a fair weather fan...I stick by what I enjoy.

Yes a mistake once in a while is alowed... but Diary sucked, Survival sucked... Land.. was meh... I even like Monkey Shines... but it wasn't really a good movie. I wouldn't trust him to direct Deep Red... hell I wouldn't trust him to direct a thesis movie for college right now.

This is a pet peeve of mine. Movies like "28 Days" and "The Crazies" get lumped into the zombie genre, when in fact they are about living people who become infected with something that drives them insane. These movies need their own classification. In "28 Days, Weeks Later" you could kill the infected in normal ways. It didn't take a shot to the brain. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ALREADY DEAD. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or other films they think fit this catergory?

I just recently watched "Trollhunter" and really enjoyed it. I do like the "POV" style of filming, if it is done correctly. I know a lot of people probably won't like this statement, but I loved "Blair Witch". It is one of the few films in my adult life that has actually sent shivers down my spine. When their tent starts to shake, and you hear children laughing, then they take off running and she's screaming "What the fuck is that?" What the FUCK is THAT!?!". It gets me every time. Not a lot of movies can pull that off without attaching something visually.

Agreed I lumped the 'infected' films with the 'undead' films and there is a distinction. Nightmare City instigated the fast moving zombie genre so blame Lenzi for muddying the waters
However, this thread has proved very prescient so I'll give my 2 cents on the whole 'Romero has lost it' dogma with a simple out-of-ten-score for his zombie films:
Night Of The Living Dead - 10/10
Dawn Of The Dead - 11/10
Day Of The Dead - 8/10
Land Of The Dead - 6/10
Diary Of The Dead - 7/10
Survival Of The Dead - 4/10.
