I gotta say.... id just assume they didnt make the final season because it will be bad. It will be just like season 7, and season 7 was pretty nonsensical when you really look at it.

And I'm sure it has a great deal to do with the fact that the writers are now having to generate their own material without Martin's latest (unfinished) book to adapt. I don't think it was an entirely bad season per se -- it had its moments -- but it was certainly a step down, for me.

And 8 will be underwhelming.
This is because the thing that made GOT great was the journey, not the destination. Obviously the destination needs to happen some time, but going from season 6 and what should be expected, its easy to conclude that they need at least 4 seasons to continue what was great about GOT, while concluding the story. Instead they go with 1 and like... 3 episodes. Its been such a massive disappointment and no matter how it concludes, it wont make up for what is happening.

Now, ill go on record and say that 7 was entirely bad. Its a bit like Star Trek Discovery, where while im watching it even if i try to say "okay, this is a new star trek for a new generation of people who lack critical thinking" there's still a part of my brain that is constantly screaming "THIS IS NOT STAR TREK, THIS IS NOT STAR TREK, THIS IS NOT STAR TREK", while im watching it. Funny enough, The Orville seems to silence that voice, but with GOT season 7 i had that voice screaming as well and it was cccooonnnssstttaaaannnnnttt. When they were trapped on the ice my brain was screaming "Season 4 would have turned this into 4 episodes, had major character deaths, we would have feared for the travelers and their getting saved would have been an entire episode! This is not GOT!"

For anyone interested, here is a compilation of all the leaked episode outlines. They seem legit and i think they're from the same source that leaked all of season 7s. So i believe these leaks and i will say this much, i think the books are going to take an entirely different route.

I actually thought the episodes were going to be longer running, or perhaps I was lead to believe that. Supposedly the battle this final season is going to be massively epic, but with those run times I'm kind of skeptical; guess we'll have to wait and see.
