I love this film. Sure, it's a slow burn for most of the film, but it works so well because it sets up this nice yet odd relationship and builds the tension perfectly, which makes the climax much more effective. I think it's brilliant.

Actually it was chatting with two people swell about it quite a while ago. With the huge amounts of films in my to see list I won't bother with AUDITION.

I love when people call this movie slow and boring. It lets me know not to trust or respect their opinions when it comes to cinema. Audition is one of my alltime favorite films and one of the greatest mind fucks I've ever experienced.

Everyone has their own opinion my favorite movie won't be yours since I definitely have seen better films than this one. Everyone should watch it and have their own opinion. I don't like to judge movies unless I watch them myself, but I may put them on the back burner if everyone is saying it's a terrible film.

I'm OK if someone I respect says they don't like it, but if you don't get it then I'm going to call you out on it. As far as I need to see more films, maybe you can recommend some films to me. I'm a newbie and would love to hear some suggestions as to what films are better.

I've seen your tastes in movies so think you are far from a nOOb. This movie obviously had an effect on you from your point of view. It hit something in you and it gelled, nothing wrong with that.

As for this movie people that I have a lot of respect for gave their opinion and because we share very similar tastes I just choice to watch other stuff. As I mentioned I have a TONNE of movies I NEED to view

But in the end as I always say at least once a week each to their own

See it ASAP, IMO it is the great. Don't go in expecting none stop gore, but veiw it as an art film. Forget about the hype and view it as a film and you will enjoy it.

I saw the film well before any of the hype and liked it to some extent, but still found it rather boring. Of course, I did expect it to be more horror in general since I didn't know anything about it going in aside from the fact that it was a Miike film and for whatever reason assumed it would be full horror. Either way, hype or not, I didn't really find it the masterpiece that many others seem to, but hey that's me

I also watched this movie before the hype and loved it. It is IMHO a masterpiece of cinema that not only won over the arthouse film critics with Miiike but also went on to inspire and the create the torture porn genre we know today. I have discussed and broken down this film for years now and I'm not going to get into it again now. Again if you don't get it cool, but I will never respect your taste in cinema, Audition is a brillant film.

Any French extremism film I would recommend, that's if you haven't seen films like Martyrs, High Tension, Inside. I would highly recommend Inside. I'm a blood and guts type girl so maybe I expected too much from Audition since I heard it was so messed up. Not that I don't appreciate films that don't have a lot of gore but I just believed in the hype of the movie and I should have known better.

I loved Martyrs and High Tension, Inside had it's moments I don't however consider those French Extreme. Films by Cathrine Brelliat, Gaspar Noe etc. I consider to be French extreme.Infact I live for french films. I'm a humble guy, with that said, I'm fucking Visitor Q I've pretty much seen it all. Ask numerous members here. Audition is easily ranks in my top 10 most fucked up films ever. It is all about the character development watching a nice guy get tortured is what makes this movie work IMO. Great film.

Besides a couple short lived scenes, there's nothing in this film that disturbed me..or was masterpiecified.. The thought of the basic premise is more disturbing than the film itself, which has only a few images that will stick with you for a while. It's not the worst film I've ever seen, but as far as horror goes, this film does not grace the shelves of my horror library.
