Hellraiser: Revelations

I like the fact there's no music in those Bloodline scenes. The ambience on the spaceship works well enough by itself. If it's not done right, music can kill suspense especially in horror. It almost feels more real without it.

I want to track down that workprint. It's a shame the Chatter Beast isn't better. It's nice that it's a practical effect, but it still looks really fake. If only they could've hired Stan Winston... I still can't believe he passed away.

"Here are some scenes from Hellraiser Bloodline that Kevin Yager and writer Peter Atkins intended to be in the final cut (and were in Kevin Yager's director's cut in their more complete form which he most likely still has). They were changed or cut out when the Weinsteins wanted to have Pinhead appear earlier in the movie and they did not want to give more money to Kevin Yager to finish the special effects so he quit and they hired Joe Chappelle to shoot alternative scenes as well as recut the film to their liking. These scenes are from one of Joe Chappelle's workprints of the movie before he completely removed them and made what eventually would become the theatrical cut of the film."

They are releasing this in the theater as a double feature with some Zombie Diaries 2. The problem is that the Hellraiser movie is getting lots of press from fans thinking it looks awful plus Barker's "not from my butthole" speech. Marketing types think no press is bad press, so all the complaints on the internet are just going to encourage them. Not to mention people will go out just to see how bad it can be.

The first time I watched this, even how attrocious this was, it looked like a parody to me, but when it was taking itself too seriously I focus on Pinhead's arrival into the scene with the family and as he spoke all I could say is "That's it? That's Pinhead? Are you kidding me? You can't be serious, he looks like he let himself go after the failing sequels and is Pinhead trying to say something? Because one, I can barely hear a goddamn thing he's saying, second, his voice sounds like shit. Doug Bradley can beat the shit out of this guy!"

Just leave Hellraiser alone! No more shitty sequels or pathetic remakes. 1 & 2 were the best.
