Speaking of "the further". I was hoping it would be way more cool. I do have to admit the family it showed was creepy as fuck.

I haven't seen yet but from what I have heard it is a very good position to be a buyer. Does it have a similar feel to the same type of movies from the 70s and 80s?

Just watched it tonight. I thought it was fun. Nothing but jump scares, but well executed. Although the finale was kind of a let down.

that family was creepy as fuck...I actually liked the further...it could have been cooler but I though it was executed in a dark/simple way...the move was needed hence the reason ....
Spoiler...the boy travels from his body and ends up getting lost because he can't find his way back to his body due to the move
Like I said I thought it was very interesting...either way it seemed like a fresh idea once for the US. Even though it was written/directed by James WAN

I loved it, and I'll keep saying it. I do agree it slowed down towards the last third of the movie, but think it still ended good. One of the best, if not the best horror movie I have seen in the theatre in a long time.

I just saw this movie last night. I have to admit I was pretty dissapointed in it. Not really what I expected at all. I was figuring it's storyline was more along the lines of "Poltergeist." (which is a 10 times better flick. ) It was decent, but not one I would watch over and over again. The scenerio they came up with as far as what the little boy could do was a little lame.
If you can't KILL them with KINDNESS. Then CONFUSE them with CRAZINESS......

^^^^
Was By far one of the better horrors to hit theaters...Comparing it to Poltergeist is bold...same genre...but that is like comparing Filet to Skirt Steak...Poltergeist will always be James Wan is proving to be a very interesting writer/director to me at least...

And for a PG13 to creep me out is just weird. So I would give it a good rating on the fact that it was a fun watch alone. It was hit and miss here and there but over all it flowed well and the house was shot perfectly to unnerve you. I know some of you have the blu. Do they go into any detail on the story backstory?

um..English please?
I thought it was really really good. The further part was a little...odd. I caught myself being generally creeped out, but when they went into the further part I didn't get creeped out at all. It was more along the lines of psychological horror rather then ghost horror and I didn't care for it. I did, however, enjoy the ending quite a bit.
Prob would give it a 7/10

The film was really good. It however did not need the jump scares and jump "music" in it. The film was strong enough to hold up without them. That was the big flaw. And the father character was too incredulous even after the
Spoiler...front door incident and the point where the kid's room was ripped to shreds while he was in the house
.
Otherwise a good watch indeed.

I thought the jump scenes were done really well. The various sounds the movie made was also great. The opening and closing title card had a really powerful feel to it due to the "music". Felt very uneasy

Haven't seen it yet, but I'll check it out. Is Wan still doing the Castlevania movie?

I liked this movie, And is it true It shares several things in common with Poltergeist. If we compare both, I would say that the audacity of Insidious goes to show what happens when the father travels to the other world to get his son back, while in Poltergeist when the father travels to the other world to save her daughter, the film never shows us how it is the other world, leaving room for interpretation and imagination of the viewer. (If I remember correctly)
Maybe some find this a disadvantage, and perhaps others as an advantage, even so this film has managed to cause some scary moments without resorting to indiscriminate killings and blood, for me it's a quality (which is a bit strange for me since I usually tend to enjoy more blood and violence in horror films)

Starts out like Paranormal Activity, turns into Poltergeist then goes off on a silly astral projection tangent.
Still liked it and 1 scene in particular made me jump out of my skin
7.5/10
