The is the successful sequel to the awesome Brazilian flick, Elite Squad from 2007. If you haven't seen the first yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. Great characters, engrossing storylines, good action, and very gritty and tense scenes.
Though, not as good as the first, this was still a pretty good sequel. Once again, very interesting storyline, unfortunately we're not given as much action as in its predecessor. Either way, I'd recommend checking the first and second movies, as they're great watches and should appease those into gritty action/crime/dramas.In the first movie we follow a group of guys as they train and become what we'd essentially refer to here as an elite SWAT unit. There it's called BOPE (Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais AKA Special Police Operations Battalion). In this sequel some old characters return, namely the lead guy and commander from the previous flick, who gets bumped up in rank after an incident occurs. Once he receives the power, he turns the once small BOPE unit into an army, and wipes out much of the gang activity and trafficking in the slums. However, once the gangs were out, the dirty cops moved in, taking over territory and taxing all the people. It all essentially turns into organized crime, reaching all the way to the Governor.
