Rating for Sucker Punch.

Well to say the least, the rating wasn't all of what I had expected, but I am sure that Zack Snyder will not disappointment, even though sources say that early reviews are mixed.

Here's the rating:

PG-13 for "thematic material involving sexuality, violence and combat sequences, and for language."

Now I know you are upset by the horrid PG-13 rating that the film received, especially after the director specifically said that he would not direct a PG-13 feature, but after the box-office crash for Watchmen, he couldn't take any more chances. So you have to be on his side.

As far as what I think of the rating, I guess it is good. I was expecting it to be a little harder much like these:

PG-13 for intense sequences of stylized violent fantasy action and combat, thematic material, sexuality, and language.

R for Strong graphic fantasy violence throughout, sexuality, and language.

Now which sounds better? But all in all, I have faith in Snyder, this is his actual first project, considering the fact that he's done only mostly adaptions and remakes. So this will be good.

I didn't read anything on the rating and figured it would be PG13 since the first trailer so... I'm not let down? Still looks fun to me.

Yeah, didn't look very much like an R-rated movie to me to begin with.

Well of course it didn't but when you have a director whose films consist more of bloody violence, then this comes as a surprise to some.

It wasn't to me neither but after his latest box-office records, he couldn't risk it. So there might be an unrated version.

Didn't look like a R movie to me either...so this comes as no shock. I don't think anyone was expecting this was going to be R

I was mixed about it, so if it gets a PG-13 I'm okay with it. Still looks awesome.

But keep in mind, Zack DID direct Owls of Gahoole which was PG-13, so it doesn't surprize that Zack would do another one with a low rating. I LOVE R rated films more because they give you more better detail than other films can, but PG-13 can be satisfying to me with this, it's a multi-genre movie probably nearly the only one of its kind, it looks great.

Don't care about the rating as the film seems to be meant to be funny and not really über violent like some recent other flicks.

and no, because I think the ratings tell alot about movies. You can never tell with R rated action films, they may mislead you if you read them like PG-13 ratings.

Just say a film like the tourist, which was PG-13 for violence and sensuality, that tells you that there is no action and that it may drag a bit and that it plays more out like a mystery, where as if it was R rated, it could possibly mean the same thing or it could just say that the action is too violent to be called PG-13.
