The first two are two of the very best modern slashers. I'm still on the fence about the prequel though.

I didn't like Cold Prey much at all. It just seemed to me like the same old tired formula re-hashed, and brought nothing new or fresh to the already over-saturated slasher genre. I found it to be quite dull and anti-climactic.

I've heard the first sequel is supposed to be generally regarded as better, but I'm yet to check it out (if I ever will).

There are two things that make the first film stand out above a lot of other recent slashers (at the time): The winter setting and its INCREDIBLY atmospheric and surprisingly well shot for a slasher. Normally filmmakers don't take the time to make a slasher flick so moody or visually appealing, but the original did it. Aside from that, everything else was your standard fair. I think I gave it a 6 in my original review. I really dug the sequel though, it was pretty much the opposite of its predecessor.

I am of this opinion. When I watched the first I was a little let down because of the hype although I was still able to acknowledge the skillful and effective film making. The second one was a lot more entertaining and very much worth a watch.

I'm yet to watch any of these. Remember when I first joined here they were quite popular.

Well as far as the third goes its not great admittedly but as far as slashers go in general I find it still above average I just wish they would release the dvd in the UK already, what the fook is taking so long!

I'm a little late to this series, but I just watched the first one. I agree on the atmosphere and setting. I also liked Ingrid Bolsų Berdal as the heroine (she was great as Atalanta in Hercules as well).

Nothing very new for the slasher genre but overall pretty decent.
