New Silent Hill movie? NOOOOO!

I really don't see any similarities between Jacobs Ladder and Silent Hill at all. Jacobs Ladder was about a guy who thought he was going insane and or a government conspiracy with the "twist" ending i'm not gonna spoil. I haven't seen Twin Peaks so i can't comment on that.

However I liked the Silent Hill movie, i liked the way they used the music from the game in it and the whole dreary atmosphere. I didn't like how they incorporated all three games into one movie though.

The hospital scene from the movie kinda reminded me about it. Plus the original developers said that was one of their main inspirations.( Not to mention first Silent Hill had the same twist ending to it as one of the possible endings.)

Silent Hill movie was ok. But Imo it kinda concentrated on wrong things about silent hill. Latest game just proved that you can make a great silent hill game which feels like one without it having the same monsters and design; Unlike that crappy Homecoming game

When the first one came out I had really high hopes just from playing the game alone. But I was rather disappointed for the most part. I mean it wasn't terrible but I would go around saying it's one of the best. Maybe something will change with the second one? I can only hope.

I think they could have made the first movie better. As ksmith pointed out, the game is very scary, I hope that this on ewill capture the feel of it.

Ill go see it, the reason being is that these days where in melb I find you get less and less horror films hitting cinemas and we are left to scrounge netflix and ebay/amazon for releases. When we do get a horror, its usually more of a thriller with some graphic violence. Nothing too scary any more. I remember in the 90s you had some crap releases but you still had something to watch if you where bored during the week or weekend at the movies. I think this will be a good watch as it seems its something that you wont expect too much from and pay just to be entertained for 90 mins or so. Only problem is, ticket prices are going up...20 bucks for an adult now, what a joke!

As for this I will check it out when it hits the cinemas. I liked the first movie, except the ending. I don't play the game so am not influenced by if the movie is exactly like it or not.

Hope it is scarier though.

storyline wise it was pretty different but it was still a cool movie to watch. Atleast once anyway. I wouldn't mind a sequal.

There is an obvious reason a movie adaptation like Silent Hill isn't anything like Jacob's Ladder or Twin Peaks, and that would be money. Making Silent Hill like those movies/tv show is not going to appeal to a broad audience, and you don't slap that license on a movie just to get the built-in fan base. You want that fan base to get the word out to other people for you. The first film at least attempted to recreate the atmosphere and setting (Brantford never looked so good) the games had, it was the script that was the let down. That said, I enjoyed the film and wouldn't say 'no' to more, especially as I've heard a lot of the cast returns (More Sean Bean is always good with me).

Seriously, the first one was a bunch of images and then in the last 15 minutes it was like they said "oh yeah... a story, we should probably throw that in here huh?... here ya go." Terrible, probably will see this when it comes out on DVD, if I'm bored.

Appears to me like I'd expect an attachment in an e-mail to work. But I selected the "image" icon, expecting it to show the picture inline if I choose to upload rather than use the URL option. The inline image now visible is me going back to edit and adding my own tinypic upload URL.

First was actually pretty good for a VG movie, it had great visual style, and plenty of bloodletting. The movie isn't the greatest, but it's better than Fourth Kind, and various remakes.

Completely agree. The Fourth Kind blew as much as Milla Jovovich in the back of Paul W.S. Anderson's trailer. What began as a serious watch ended as a goddamned MST3K session for me and my friends.

But I agree that, ESPECIALLY for a vg movie, the first Silent Hill rocked pretty hard. You'll be hard strapped to find a big budget studio release that endorses barb-wire raping someone to death in the middle of a church (while a little girl dances in her blood). Just sayin'.
