This is the Korean remake to the 1986 flick from John Woo. Normally I like Korean cinema, but when they remake films it's a bit iffy. Such is the case with A Better Tomorrow.
I'll be honest, I haven't seen the original in years, so I can't compare the two. However, what I can say is that if you're expecting a tense action flick with this remake, you'll be sorely disappointed. It's mostly just a drama between the relationship of the ex-gangster and his policeman brother. The action doesn't actually occur until the last 20-or-so minutes and even then it's not all that great. Despite that, the film did keep my interest for the most part (despite some of its dull and over-dramatic moments).
In the end, I'd advise just skipping this. It's an okay standalone film, but not a very good remake. 6/10
