I've enjoyed most of Ridley Scott's work , though Robin Hood put me to sleep. BladeRunner and Alien are two of my favorite films, so I am looking forward to him returning to science fiction.

I really love the pictures from the Comic Con footage. A trailer can't come soon enough. Hopefully, it won't spoil too much. The original Alien trailer barely showed a thing.

The more I read about this movie the less I understand. Is it an Alien-prequel? Or is it something else?

It's a standalone film, but it's part of the alien universe, so we'll likely see familiar things from the franchise

From what I've understood so far is that it's a loose prequel. It's supposed to be about the Space Jockey instead of the Xenomorph, but does explain how the Xenomorphs came about. But that's what I've gathered about it. Either way it sounds promising.

i've heard things about "Space gods" and 'Terra-Forming' but i think the less you know about the creature side of this movie the better, especially since H.R.Gigar could be on board

Rust in Peace - I'm not sure what you mean. By Xenomorph, do you mean the Alien? I know what a xenomorph is, but you capitalized it.
I don't even know what Space Jockey is referring to.

Xenomorph is the name of the Aliens in the films:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%...n_franchise%29

And the Space Jockey is that giant corpse they find in the ship in the first Alien film:

I thought I just replied, but it's not showing, so I'll do it again.
The giant alien in the seat from the first movie was what first came to mind, but I've never heard or seen it given a name before. Where did you hear that? I've read most of the cheesy novels in the "Alien" universe, and nothing has ever mentioned it. Is it from a comic or graphic novel? I have never seen any of those. Any suggestions on where to feed my "Alien" fix would be appreciated.

I've heard that before. I've always associated "Xeno" with something Alien.
I meant Space Jocky. Where did that come from?
I was always disappointed that the franchise never even mentioned it after the initial encounter. Like it was no big deal to find a giant space faring species.

I found a whole site dedicated to "Space Jockeys". Never knew there was that much interest in them. Never would have known without your comment, though. Thanks.

Now you got me thinking about 'Space Jockey' term, I am quite sure it was from the Dark Horse Comics series where I saw this. I used to collect these years ago.

According to the site I found, it was a term created by some of the people who actually worked on the movie. Also "The Pilot". The site also talked about how this race fits into both the Alien and Predator storylines.

This does look promising. It has a great cast and Ridley Scott is back in the director's chair. It would be nice to have a film with the feel of the original "Alien" films again. I'll probably be seeing this in theaters.
