I feel it will be a great movie...but see is believing though as any trailer can be made to look fantastic.

Some buddies of mine have seen it and here's the resume fo their thoughts: don't expect a real prequel or you'll get disappointed. The movie takes place in the universe of the Alien saga but don't expect a real prequel.

I understand that there are no aliens as we understand them. I guess this is what makes it interesting for me personally.

I don't do reviews but I must speak to this movie. Is the movie good, yes. Is the movie great, depends on your expectations going in. It is impossible to review this movie without ruining anything so I'm not going to even attempt doing so as it would be like trying to walk on eggshells without breaking them.

With my own expectations set, Prometheus failed to deliver. Perhaps if the the hype machine wasn't pegged on "Overload" I may have thought differently, however I doubt it. One amazing scene set aside this movie was...I hate to say it...boring. If it wasn't for the gigantic scale of it with amazing set pieces I would have felt cheated (Considering my expectations I actually did feel cheated at first).

Did I think it was a good movie, yes. It is very well made...it is Ridley Scott after all. Did I think it was great? Although the film has moments of greatness the final feeling I had once the credits rolled was somewhat of a letdown.

Great performances by all, great effects, and an intriguing story are plagued by a movie that is 2hrs and 10 minutes...but feels much longer. Unfortunately everything that made Alien great is completely missing here. Even watching Alien for the 100th time I would find myself feeling the tension and fear by how it was filmed as there was always a sense of dread. There is nothing of that nature in Prometheus.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if at Oscar time Fassbender is a nominee, his portrayal of "David" is amazing and in my opinion is the most enjoyable aspect of the entire movie.

On a side note, anyone teetering on whether or not to see it in 3D don't waste any more time on that decision. The 3D is simply amazing and definitely adds to the overall experience. This is coming from someone who typically doesn't bother with 3D.

After reading and hearing some people's thoughts on this and stating it's not a real prequel I must say that Prometheus is the beginning of the prequel trilogy. So if anyone is going into seeing this and having it lead right into "Alien", yes you will be GREATLY disappointed.

I get the impression from the trailers it is is a little too 'bright and clean', if that makes any sense.

So I saw a commercial last night that said "Before Alien, there was Prometheus" or something to that affect. This is the 1st time I've seen an acknowledgment that it is truely a prequel.

Personally I can't wait to hear what others think. This is a rare film where the actually is a middle road and not just love or like for it. Middle of the road is where I am.

I absolutely loved this movie. From the opening credits, until the last easter egg..this was fantastic. I can't put into words how great this movie was. Every scene had me on the edge of my seat and I was glued. I'll write up a review some time tomorrow

Saw it last night. Overall i was pretty satisfied. The ending scene will leave you wanting more and definately ties to the roots of Alien. We just need the in between prequils to fill in the gaps. Go see it for yourself...

THE most amazing sci-fi film since the original Alien. Ties into the original film nicely while still standing as its own movie. Explains the "Space Jockeys" and has some amazing special effects. This one should not be missed.
