We might can expect a sequel if it makes back it's budget, which I think it should by next week. Don't expect it to be as big as this film. It came in this weekend with 7 million. Ouch!!!! Damn, now that they've mad it cooler, look what happens.

I liked it, funny at times. Waaay better than part 3. Its funny how now that I am older I watch the first Scream and see how corny it is, but it scared the hell out of me when it first came out. I went into Scream 4 remembering that its supposed to be a spoof and I enjoyed myself.

Same tired garbage from Craven. Glad I downloaded it.

Caught it on youtube myself. I know it's not the same as viewing on the big screen, but I can't imagine that would've made it much better. Wasn't HORRIBLE, but definitely a let-down. Especially considering the wait. And I'm STILL trying to figure out why everyone loves Kirby so much. Is it a straight guy thing?

I don't see why anyone loves any 'Scream' character that much. They're all cardboard cannon-fodder with no depth.

I disagree with the characters being cardboard cannon-fodder lacking depth. The original probably had the best character development, but Sidney, Gale and Dewey have certainly developed over the entire series. The newcomers did, indeed, lack some depth, but I've seen much flatter characters in other horror films. To each his/her own, I suppose.

As for the film itself, I highly enjoyed it. I found it better than parts 2 and 3 (I think part 2 is highly overrated on imdb). I liked the characters much more than those of the previous sequels (with the exception of the original trio and Randy of course) and I felt they stayed true to the original storyline. It's not a perfect film by any means, but I found it entertaining and I loved the way it poked fun at itself as well as remakes/reboots and the "Saw" craze.

If they do make a fifth installment, they really need to kill off one of the main trio - preferably Dewey, as he has become rather useless.

Resurrecting an old thread to say that I finally caught the flick the other day -- not a bad movie, but what a horrible climax. At least it was better than the previous installments.

I liked it better than Scream 3 but not as much as the first two. I did like Kirby.

    Spoiler...
It did seem like they pulled their punches a little bit. I expected them to kill off one of the original cast, not that I wanted to see any of them die, but I loved that moment in Scream 2 where Dewey gets stabbed in front of Gale. I thought the best deaths in this film were the two cops. If Gale, Dewey, or Sidney was stabbed in the head, you wouldn't forget that.

Yeah, the last scene in the hospital seemed really dumb. That little teenage girl going to kill Sidney. Nice way to make Ghostface not scary at all. I didn't mind the other killer so much. He is pretty young too though. I did like the scene with him on the patio and Kirby on the phone ala the first Scream, but I really wasn't impressed by who the killers were. I remember in the third one they went to such great lengths to tie the killer to Sidney that it was just ridiculous. Why couldn't the killer be some random person she doesn't know at all? Why does it always have to tie back to her? So then they can have some long drawn-out speech about their motivation? I'll never forget the trailer for Scream 3 bragging about breaking all the rules. What a load of sh*t. Kevin Williamson wanted to open one of the sequels with Sidney in hiding and some random fan attacking her. I don't think the killer has to have a personal connection to Sidney, but I guess there's usually a problem when the mask comes off.

Why can't we get the uncut version of the first one on DVD? It was released in Japan and Korea.

Yes, the killer and the motive were stupid, which was the films biggest downfall to me, however, I think they should ditch the rules in the next installment and take a new spin on the slasher craze.....

I was pleased with Scream 4 overall even though the identity of the killer(s) was a bit of a letdown. The opening sequence was pretty cool. I think they could've done without the second Stab intro though. One was enough. I also wish they would've used the alternate opening that has Marnie (the 'new Casey Becker') being the main target, not Jenny. I also wish that a certain character who was a total bitch would've died later in the film. It's always nice to have the least likeable character last a long time. It makes their death a bit more 'satisfying' imo.

I agree. It doesn't really make sense either.

    Spoiler...
So in this fictional world, you go to see Stab 7 at a theater, and the first opening will say Stab 6? Who would that fool if you know you're seeing Stab 7? Or are people going to see Stab 6 in a theater and then it turns out 6 is actually 7? What's the point of that? It's just a gimmick to surprise viewers of Scream 4.
