What these movies could use is a lot more carnage because the blood/gore level was very tame. Everything else is good, though.

The second movie had me bored and I didn't like the little girl. I like the idea of it taking place in a rehab clinic, but it didn't really do much with it. It was more about Emily Perkins trying to get hold of monkshood so she could delay the werewolf transformation. That took up too much of the movie. And then she escapes and we have this werewolf stalking her because he wants to 'mate with her' or something but this isn't really explored. Then some lame plot twists and that's it.

Even though i like it . Slides into the Pro-Feminist Lesbian Overtones/Lilith Fare Era of rhe early 2000's.:kaylatran:it is the definitive Chick Horror flick:booberry:. Girls tend to be much more affectionate towards each other, though. That's why they have pyjama parties in their panties and have pillow fights.. Don't know if there's anything sexual about it. But then again I'm not part of the sisterhood. :shedance::shedance:

What's so good about Dog Soldiers? Aside from the practical werewolf effects? It was a lame rip-off of Aliens and Predator. The actors were annoying, the gore effects sucked and it's a badly shot, boring movie.

And the lame twist that the chick helping them is really a werewolf. I can't say how much I hate this movie.

Love the first one, very clever and a great watch. The second was ok, on par with most werewolf sequels and I've never seen the third

Yes, this was part of the emphasis for the girls transformations.
While girls, they were asexual. The only time they really began to emote any level of sexuality was when bitten and transformed.

At most i would consider the series kind of... "New Agey", but definitely wouldn't categorize it as some ultra feminist bullshit or anything like that.
If anything its actually a great example of the writer being able to write character roles for women that are not simply replacement roles where they have the general actions and characteristics of a male, just played by a female. No, the writer was very good in accomplishing something different.

While it's very encouraging that you liked Ginger Snaps, given your normal likes and dislikes, I think if nothing was different about Jennifer's Body other than the stigma of Megan Fox more folks would like it. I'm not really a Megan Fox fan but I enjoyed it and thought it succeeds where Juno fails, in terms of any kudos being deserving for Diablo Cody. I was really entertained for the most part. But in a different way from Ginger Snaps, though if I had to pick of course GS is better, lame effects or no.

You're more or less right in your assessment of Dog Soldiers. It's Aliens with werewolves. The effects are pretty lame as well, though kudos to them for good designs at least. But it's fun. It's one of those "fun" horror movies where "fun" isn't code for "couldn't be bothered to give a fuck about making a decent film." DS is a really low budget film and the filmmaker did a lot with very little (like the GS filmmakers). Someone without at least a few million to spend shouldn't even think about making a werewolf movie, normally. In all of these cases here are films made by folks who actually like the material and who are making films that offer something more than the churn of the studio remake machine and all those joyless sequels and CW drek that the likes of New Line and Dimension typically put out.
