Well since Wooden and King have obviously been slacking on keeping this thread up I figured I would give my best shot:
Black Sunday (AKA The Mask of Satan):
If I could describe this movie in one word it would be "beautiful." That's the first thing and last thing I remember thinking of this movie. Everything was shot magnificently, interesting and amazing camera angles and lighting that Howard Hawks himself would be proud of.
The story is interesting revolving around a scorned witch and her accomplice being killed at the beginning of the movie and having the "masks of satan" nailed to their faces. The witch/vampire/whatever haunts the region for hundreds of years and comes to torment a professor and the rest in a gorgeous castle. It's difficult to find fault in this movie, but the one thing I can complain about is the English dubbing. The version I watched only had one voice track and it was obviously poorly dubbed into English.
In all I was greatly impressed with the styleand technique used in this film. Most certainly the work of an artist, I can't wait to continue my viewing of Bava's work and I intend to report back.

Black Sabbath
A trilogy of stories pressed into an anthology (one of my favorite horror subgenres if you can even call it one). The first story deals with a hot young chick being harassed by a maniac on the phone, then a friend comes over to "help her" Of course a twist comes and I wont ruin it for anyone who hasnt seen it but it's a very claustrophobic story of passion and torment.
The Second is my personal favorite with Boris Karloff as the patriarch of a rural family in Medieval Europe. A stranger comes to town and discovers the corpse of a killer who the family does not seem to sad to see go. Then Karloff comes back and the begin to question weather or not he has become a Wurdulak (eastern european vampire). This one is beautifully shot and has some great sets and definitly the best acting and biggest pay off.
The final story is another close quarters story that fills the viewer with a sense of dread as the body of a corpse is dealt with. This corpse keeps torturing the woman that prepares it for burial (stealing from it at the same time).
Like an ice cream sandwich, the best part of this movie is the middle and while competently shot and acted I found myself longing for the beauty of Black Sunday in all its monochrome glory

Never seen that one by Bava but I fucking love anthology movies, My favourite one is Tales From the Crypt 1973, Followed closely by Creepshow 2. I remember one with Vincent Price in it but I can't remember the name of it.

The one Strt describes is the Italian version of the anthology. It is in italian, so you better understand the language or like to read subtitles. American version the stories are broken up and a short introduction is made by Karloff for each story from my understanding
Like, so many people out there were trying to track this down. And it just...got delivered on a tweet. What the hell.

I've only seen one Bava flick so far - "Hatchet for the Honeymoon" - which I found okay, but nothing spectacular. I've been trying to get my hands on "Bay of Blood" but netflix is being a bitch. Does anyone know where I might find it?
