The Ugly

I first heard about this movie when I got the "Boogeymen" dvd. No, not the shitty movie with the dude from "7th Heaven" The one where they give a list of killers from certain horror movies. (In fact, I was a member of that forum for that dvd back when I was 13.)

Anyway, I would say this was an interesting concept of a movie. A man named Simon is in a mental institution where they send in a woman to hear his story as to why he kills. The reason? He sees demons he calls, The Uglies who enter his mind and tell him to kill and will not leave him alone until he does so. Is it all just in his mind or is it really going on? And will this woman see them for herself?

All in all, I would say this movie is worth the watch. I have to admit the Uglies were pretty damn awesome looking and you had to love those accents since it was a New Zealand film. The ending leaves you wondering.

Anyone ever see it? What did you think of it?

I saw this on the Boogeymen DVD myself years ago. I own it now and have to say I do enjoy it! Even if the blood is black.

If you want his opinion just look at my "movies I like" album it is in there. The premise was okay but what really made it for me was the interviews between her a Simon. I thought there was some interesting stuff in there.

I first heard about it on Boogeymen too. Bought it way back when and thought it was okay. Nothing to write home about.

Bought it after seeing the same Boogeymen disc as y'all. I was hoping more of the film would be as stylized as the bits that got me to buy the disc in the first place but it's still pretty enjoyable and above average. And by "average" I mean horror films starring WB/CW TV actresses too proud to show their boobies directed by guys that think the millionth time you see a cat jump out of nowhere to startle a character is anything but nauseating by now.

Have this on dvd. Not quite sure how I heard about it. Probably saw it at Block Buster one night , and rented it. It's been sometime since I watched it, and can't remember a thing about it.

No idea, looked black to me, but I haven't seen the flick in ages, so I couldn't say what they used. Hard to not notice the black blood though.

I got this in a 2-pack from walmart along with Bruiser for $5...never bothered to watch it. Maybe I'll check it out

Or, y'all are looking at it too literally and not in context given that this story deals with different perceptions and possible realities. Or it simply could have been a stylistic choice by the director for the image that it created that really had nothing to do with the clinical or forensic reality of what color blood is.

There were plenty of times I saw stark white blood in Sin City. But blood, as a thing, was not represented as a white thing, implying that was its natural state in that world. It was simply a choice. Red was a color found in the palette of Sin City and, in fact, there's really no reason to think blood, as a fact, is any color but red in the "universe" of Sin City as it relates to our world but it isn't always presented as red, as an image with its own context, or a picture intended to have some kind of factual value.
