I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this franchise is "phenomenal". It's been the same exact game for years without any sort of new innovations. And the online is just god awful, unless you consider "fuck it and chuck it" hand grenade fests to be fun. The single player campaign is linear with barely any replay value.

And to bring up sales when discussing gameplay quality - are you kidding? CoD is so popular and has such a massive, loyal fanbase that people will shell out the $60 for the newest title despite it being the same fucking game they bought 6 months ago. Has nothing to do with the games being any good.

Call Of Duty hasn't really gone anywhere since Modern Warfare, every game since then has looked like the exact same thing just different settings. Every time when one of my friends gets a new CoD game and I came over to play I think I'm playing the same thing. Thankfully I've never shelled out any cash for these games however. Making it an annual series is killing it, I'm willing to bet each developer that does a CoD is more concerned with a deadline than the actual game.

Battlefield does branch out far more than CoD. Battlefield has done their Bad Company games, 2142, beat CoD to the Modern stuff and Battlefield Hero's (although it was a lot like Team Fortress).

gonna get it just for the campaign. Sorta off topic, but I never got or even played for that matter, was Black Ops. Came out when I wasn't around. Even worth it? Campaign wise?

I personally enjoyed the campaign possibly because it was the second one I played after COD World at War. I do find this franchise redundant and personally am not excited for this. September is going to be a really good month (as long as nothing gets pushed back) for new releases that will keep me busy.

I get a kick out of the zombie modes every now and then but yeah the other online modes are crap.

The lights dimmed, the virtual shooting began, and, while everything looked great on that huge screen and my ears began to ring, the whole thing felt redundant. These are new situations with new weapons, but is there anything here to get excited about?

The audience for this series is huge, as is the interest from a gaming population that claims to hate it.

We're told to expect something on a larger scale than past games in the series. We're told that the multiplayer is going to be a "beast," and the Special Ops will be back with new game modes and ideas. When the press left the room to snack on the food and ravage the open bar, the talk was that this seemed like a natural progression for the series. Nothing amazing, nothing disappointing, just expected.

For the Modern Warfare series, that's going to be more than enough.

cod has tank fighting, also has you taking control of the aircraft weaponry and firing.

Battlefield 2142 is one of my favorite games of all time. The multiplayer was amazing. Personally I'm going to get both just to say I played them. But definitely never picking up Black Ops.

not getting this one the pay to play idea really turned me from COD, i be switching to battlefield 3.

i pay 69 bucks for the game, pay for xbox live, i also pay 1200 msp for maps that use to be 800 msp but i forgave them for that cash grab. but to pay a monthly fee for extra maps,guns and perks is where i draw the line. sure i can not pay for the extras , but do i wanna play the game against people who decided to pay for the extra features in a multiplayer match and have an advantage cause they let the developers cash in on yet another cash grab...fuck no....

battlefield 3 :free maps and has a new gaming engine unlike cod that keeps reusing the same old one, hell cod waw, mw2 and black ops could have all just been dlc expansions for cod 4..

i was a cod fan but i am switching this november and i know alot that are switching also

i love the COD games. I have played other games online and they don't seem to run as smooth or be as user friendly but that's just my opinion. With that being said, I didnt like Black Ops as much as Modern Warfare 2. But its still fun, the Campaign was a bit short though.
