The Thing - Prequel

I read this on IMDB this morning...

"Fans of director John Carpenter's horror movie The Thing are in for a treat - plans are afoot for a prequel. Studio bosses at Universal have revealed they are working on a new movie with screenwriter Ronald D. Moore, the man behind the relaunch of sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, to explain how the shape-shifting alien came to be discovered.

The project will be helmed by filmmaker Matthijs Van Heijningen, according to Variety."

Sounds interesting... i dunno if they can make it as gory but we'll see.

On a side note - I like the orginal black and white more then Carpentar's remale.

Not really interested in prequels usually, look at what happened to Star Wars. As much as I love Carpenter's remake I like the original just as much myself.

I just know this will be a C(rap)G fest, so I'm not really looking forward to it.

I find the black and white look and feel of the orginal amazing. Something they kinda missed it in the remake.

Story was decent, but short. Gameplay bugged me way too much to enjoy it. Felt like it needed 3 more months of beta testing.

This...doesn't seem like a good idea. At all. Why a prequel now? And Carpenter isn't directing. I wonder if CGI will be used?

It could be good I guess, but it just seems like it has an 80% chance to be bad.

Prequel for The Thing sounds good to me I would prefer that over a remake of the original or a sequel. They never really got into what happened to the Norwegian expedition, only implying that they were killed by the alien organism.

I will follow Ronald D. Moore into the pits of hell if necessary. While I'm not exactly psyched for the film, anything he gets a hold of, I will watch with an open mind.

i heard that there is a possibility that they want to put a relative of Kurt Russel's character in the prequel. that sounds pretty shitty to me, im hoping that it is just a rumor.

I dont really know how you can make a sequel after the original Thing's ending but I guess anybody can think of something to get a new story. I dont mind a prequel, see what's up with that dog and why the chopter is chasin it down.
