    Just saw Ils(them)....

    Loved it.

Seems like to me America has been ripping this film off the hinges. It reminds me of Vacancy and The strangers, which aren't much different from this, except that this film does it right, and it does it better.

The direction and acting had a lot to do with this. The setting is dark, and the camera work is done well. What I liked about the film is that it pulls you in, and plays with the mind a lot (running from something you can't see, not knowing where the noises are coming from but they are surrounding you, etc.). Must I add that this film is very suspenseful, which the last 30 minutes of it will keep you on the edge of your seat, and those hooded figures are creepy.

The only fault I have with the film is the ending, in which it and the strangers, not vacancy, both end the same, except we get a little more backstory as to what happened to people and why did they bring chaos to these people.

Other than that, I really have no gripe with the film. 7/10, would have been an 8 with a better ending.

So what do you guys think about this? For my sake, my next film is I Saw The Devil, so should I watch or avoid?

Having never seen Ils I can still assure you, The Strangers predates it by at least a couple years. Similarities will be coincidental or common to the genre (including the ending).

I enjoyed Ils as well, and I'd recommend I Saw the Devil. Alot of people on here and me enjoyed that one.

I liked it, but hated the ending. Just thought it was silly, especially when they revealed who the villains were

Yeah, the ending wasn't all that great, and I thought it moved too slow for it's own good.

I liked "Ils" It's creepy. In many ways it's better than "The Strangers." I think "Ils" is based on "real events" (but I take that with a grain of salt...) That might explain the ending.

From what I understand The Strangers is a remake of Ils(Them). I liked The Strangers better. The endings on both leave something to be desired. Of course, Liv Tyler was a nice addition. Man that woman has a set of lungs. Wow.

Unfortunately, this isn't the original ending or how Brian intended to end it. He just didn't have the clout yet, as a first time director given a shot, to shoot the film or end it his way. It was a studio exec's call.

I love it. It's back to basics suspense/horror that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Bring out the usual suspects then - ghosts, zombies, Jason Voorhees.. It's more realistic. It is like they take something from the headlines, and make a horror movie about it.
