    Big Junior

    Big Junior (2010)
Written and directed by: Scott Swan
    Synopsis:
Big Junior comes to town with a briefcase loaded with heroin. He has a meeting set up in his motel room with Skip Fawn, a local drug dealer/pimp. Fawn's girlfriend, a trashy whore named Lainey, comes along for the buy. The drug deal goes off without a hitch, but the rest of the evening quickly becomes a dark journey into total depravity and shocking real-world horror.

This was just released, so a thread is in order. I am still waiting for my copy. Note that the first release has an exclusive uncut edition. Scott is re-cutting the movie for future releases. Anyway, it's directed by the guy who directed Toetag Inc's Maskhead, and also the guy who co-wrote the John Carpenter episodes from Masters of Horror. Hopefully Big Junior will be better than Maskhead was, but that shouldn't be too hard I suppose

Alright, it arrived today and here's what I think.. Scotty sure is a nasty man. After Maskhead with all the depravity going on there, I should've guessed, but this really proved it. It really goes too far with the stuff, but I think it was an entertaining movie. Wouldn't call it a masterpiece but a few scenes had me laughing out loud (c'mon, the singing was hilarious!) and others had me just scratching my head wonder what the hell is gonna happen next. Obviously, Scott is influenced by the likes of Tarantino, but while I don't really like Tarantino films all that much, I'm not surprised when people get influenced by him. I've always said it, he can write dialog if anything. And so can Scott Swan, because this movie is probably 85% dialog, and the rest of it is.. well, pick your bodily fluid.

Part of me hates the movie, part of me loves it. It's just a really nasty night of crime, and it definitely didn't bore me. That's always a good sign. This is one of those movies I will name-drop to all the wrong people, in hopes they will actually buy it and see their jaws drop.

Will be interesting to see the future re-cut, I have no idea what he has in store for us.
