This movie more than lived up to the hype for me. Plus me being a huge Thor fan I was happy to see him putting most people in their place. Also the mid credits scene... The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get a whole lot more crazy because of that.
(Also haven't been able to get on here in a WHILE, my laptop completely shit the bed.)

My ass finally got around to seeing this and man, what a great flick! Good action, pacing, comedy, and I just loved how all the characters got their own bits in the spotlight. It didn't really seem like anyone had more screen time than necessary, which is a really hard thing to do with so many central characters. Pretty much loved it--one of the best superhero flicks I've seen in years. 9/10

The best thing about The Avengers is that you can feel the respect and love Whedon has for each of the Avengers and he knew how to make them shine. This movie made me like the Evans and Hemsworth Captain America and Thor. This has got to be the most satisfying superhero movie (character wise) ever.

Very few movies scenes have made it hard for me to contain my emotions like the scene where Iron Man helps Captain America with Shoot to thrill playing.
After it was over I yelled fuck yeah.
There were little kids in the theatre and I realy diidnt meen to say,it just came out.

It pleases me as an Avengers reader in the 70's/80's, but it is so well done, you don't have to be a fanboy of any kind to enjoy it. This is an all time top comic book movie. It's fun and the characters are handled great. Mark Ruffalo (Banner) is signed on for six films. Damn, the Hulk finally done right.

I just read through this thread from the beginning (just for shits and giggles) and I find it extremely amusing how much people were showing a severe dislike for the casting of Ruffalo as Banner... but he ended up turning out one HELL of a performance in that role..
Personally, I thought he nailed the character of Banner better than Norton did.

Absolutely adore this, I am a massive Marvel fan. Mostly 60's-80's comics though. Some 90's. The shit they do today doesn't interest me. I love all the originals that Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko worked on. I don't like how a lot of the things they set up just get ignored, changed and over run these days.
So my excitement when I heard about this was great, but I was also worried as to which route it would more lean towards. Needless to say I was very, very happy about the film. I even one free screening tickets, which was fucking awesome. Love the film to bits, and can't wait for it to be explored more. It was great to finally see a truly terrifying Hulk on screen too, kind of a 'last resort' type thing. Which is how it damn well should be.
My main biff is the lack of features on the BluRay. Also looking forward to the S.H.E.I.L.D. TV series.

The more I saw this movie in theaters, the more I disliked it. The climax near the end is one of the best action sequences in recent memory, but the rest of the film is

If I were to nitpick, Cap's costume was kinda weak. His WW2 getup was cooler.

I think the white stripes on the shoulders mainly threw me off. At first blush, the '92 Cap movie costume looks more true, oddly enough.
