Still debating if I'll be checking this in theaters or waiting for DVD. The mixed reviews here aren't leading me in one direction or another. I will definitely be seeing this at some point, just a matter of when.

I'm a big fan of the original story - I've read the book, seen the play, seen the '89 film and even listened to the radio play; so I was a bit uncertain whether this would live up to my expectations. Went to see it last weekend and I was suitably impressed. The atmosphere is spot on and the acting (even Radcliffe's) is pretty good, although you really have to watch this in a cinema to appreciate it fully.
They have taken certain liberties with the story, which made it all go a bit typical-Hollywood-ghost-story towards the end (even though it's not Hollywood, but you know what I mean), but overall a pretty decent film.
Plus it made the Mrs jump, which is always a good thing

I saw this today, and I gotta say I loved it. Lots of jump moments good overall story and I really liked the fact that they realized that more dialogue is not always a good thing. I'd rate this movie 8/10 easy. My only criticism is using the potter boy he truly is a crap actor and still sounds like he is 15
