K going to go in a little bit more detail without writing a thousand paragraph review. The acting is good. The real star is the little girl. She did a great job. Other than that..meh. Never been a fan of Guy Pearce. There was some suspense on what the creatures looked like. You heard them do this creepy whisper throughout the beginning of the movie..then when you finally see them... It's a complete joke.
Spoiler...They look like deformed creatures that came out of the movie "9". All they do is hack and slash people until the end. No one tries to fight these things besides the girl and even then she's defenseless. They're like six inches tall..and no one thinks to step on these little bastards? You can't take these things seriously. They are too funny looking.
The ending is also really crappy..as...*SPOILERS*
Spoiler...Katie Holmes is dragged in the ventilation by the "faeries" and she is whispering in the end like she has become one of them. Makes absolutely no sense.
Nothing is explained. There are certain characters that show up and know a lot about the topic then never heard from again in the film. It has no reason for it to be rated R. I don't remember much swearing or that much violence for that matter. This is barely a horror movie and for that I am highly disappointed. If you're looking for a fun, sometimes funny (when you see the creatures), movie then yeah go see it. Otherwise, skip this POS.
