Best of Summer 2012

[Prince of Horror]

Well yet another summer has passed and to say the least....it was pretty mediocre.

Yes there were a few hits such as Bridesmaids, Harry Potter, Horrible Bosses, Transformers (action wise) and Thor, and a few surprises from Captain America, X-men First class, and Rise of the planet of the apes.....

But sure enough this summer biggest Misfires were Pirates of the carribbean 4, The hangover part 2 (funny but needed something more from it), and the Green Latern, which was the most anticipated movie of the summer.....


So I can't really make a list of movies I've seen over the summer that I liked, thought was okay, and hated because I didn't go to the theatres much....but here's what I have seen.....

The hangover 2 - need more from it
Pirates 4 - also need more from it
Thor - good
Captain America - surprisingly good
Zookeeper - been there done that
Rise of the planet of the apes - also surprisingly awesome

But next summer is shaping up pretty good:

The Avengers
The Dark Knight Rises
Battleship
Men in black 3
Dark Shadows
Prometheus
Rock of Ages
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
The Amazing Spider man
Ted
G.I. JOE 2 (Yes I am looking for to anything Dwayne Johnson is in)
The Bourne Legacy
Total Recall
The Expendables 2


So what films did you guys like, hated, or thought was okay this summer, and how do you feel about next summer...

Thor - Really fun movie
Fast Five - Only the second movie I've seen from the series but I really enjoyed it
Captain America - Really suprised by this one
Final Destination 5 - Had a lot of fun with this one
Pirates 4 - Big fan of the other Pirates movies so anytime I get to see Captain Jack is good times
Super 8 - My favorite movie of the summer

Didn't like:

Green Lantern - Horribly dissapointing
Transformers 3 -
The Hangover 2 - Some funny parts but was essentially the exact same movie as the first

Looking forward to:

The Dark Knight Rises

I think its shoved into everyones head that the summer is SUPPOSED to be mediocre. Because every single year without exception people tend to say thast how it was. Its just my opinion but all in all I think its been a pretty entertaining summer. Some of the movies were just "meh" but they were worth one watch.

I don't think it's shoved, it showed, but for the simple fact that people were so amped up abouth about things that weren't like they expected......

Super 8 was the best of the summmer, some of those other ones weren't released in the summertime.

I missed 'Super 8' due to it showing on the school holidays here. I was really looking forwards to this as well.

Stopped watching 'Transformers 3' after 20 minutes or so, what a load of shit I would rather be at the feast in 'Salo' then watch another one of these movies

The action scenes were amazing, and staged well, as usual with a MIchael Bay film, but like all Michael Bay films, the story seemed all over the place, and I think they should have kept Meagan Fox, considering the fact that they story line would have seemed a lot better than the one they had with Rosie.....

Just drove me nuts. As for the action scenes, especially with the battles, just confused the hell out of me.

Well considering that this year is 2011 those films mentioned for this year weren't all that impressive. Mediocre may be a bit harsh. Summer Blockbusters aren't what they used to be, and I seriously doubt they ever will be again. You list for next year fails to impress me; although my hopes are up for The Dark Knight , and Dark Shadows. I guess we will have to see next year
