Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher Trilogy) returns with Drive, starring Ryan Gosling about "a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong."



I'm looking forward to the flick since I'm a fan of the director's work with the Pusher trilogy. I was a bit disappointed with his last couple efforts though -- Bronson and Valhalla Rising -- but one thing's for sure and that's the man knows his way around a camera. He captures the perfect essence of gritty filmmaking and shocking and abrupt violence. Hopefully his style hasn't changed with Drive since it's his first "major" studio release.

Not sure why it would receive a limited release, but chances are I probably won't see it then. Stuff rarely plays here when it's limited

I checked showtimes for Friday and it looks like it's playing at all my nearby theaters, so it may not be as limited as we thought

Well that's what yahoo said, but boxofficemojo.com said that it will be released in over like 2400 theatres this weekend....so I guess they had a change of heart, too bad the movie isn't getting too much publicity except for the last couple of weeks.....

Movie probably won't make much $$ at the box office. It seems like all the good flicks just aren't being seen. All the mainstream audience wants to see are silly comedies, kid flicks, or expensive fantasies

Just got back from the flick -- great movie! The director really redeemed himself from his previous efforts. It's a hauntingly beautiful film, even amidst the abrupt and graphic violence.

The first half of the movie is pretty quiet, very little dialogue, and it's all about getting to know the characters. The second half is where the violence kicks in, and although there isn't a whole lot of it, it's pretty damn graphic, as expected from Nicolas Winding Refn. I also really dug the 80's feel it offered, especially from the music.

Movie was really sweet, loved the use of the 80's music cause it just fit right easily an 8/10.
