Agreed, some POV/found footage can be decent, but a majority is a waste.

If it's an underground flick, I probably won't watch it. Why watch something that has horrible looking..well everything?

    A) You're missing out on a good movie. Your loss.
    B) If you don't watch movies based on their alleged nonsensical premises then perhaps the horror genre isn't for you.

As for the topic, anything with shit/piss/vomit involved is probably near the bottom of my "to watch" list.

    A) I'm being told this a lot, so I'm going to have to watch it...
    B) They just have to make sense for me to really enjoy them...that premise just isn't realistic..I think I find true horror in things that are just totally possible

I would find it rather difficult to make the argument that the premise of just about any horror film is anywhere remotely near being realistic. There's nothing wrong with seeing the horror genre for what it truly is - entertainment and escapism, at best.

Im not talking about the major details, the slasher, the monster, I get that that's the deal with horror...or else I wouldn't adore the genre...but I think it's just a personal preference and just how I think...small details just throw the whole film off for me...i feel like they put them in skimpy tops just so they're better to look at...and I understand that...but knowing that just throws me off the whole movie.

I know my thoughts are a bit warped, and usually completely against what horror usually is...but that's why I have a few select favourites that don't just smush sex and such in my face. Few horror movies can do that well, and even fewer were made in the 90's or 2000's. In my opinion anyway.

The sex angle is primarily seen in the slasher sub-genre, but it's not a real focus in other subs within the genre. Unless of course, it's from the 80's, then yes, pretty much every movie then had sex and nudity

    The 80's did it right.
I think some movies just rub me the wrong way, I appreciate the slight sexiness in some films, it's usually an enjoyable feature of it, but there are some things that just...irritate me. It's splitting hairs really, but certain things bug the hell out of me.

Yup, found footage films...for the most part do give me the god-aweful shits. Even the 'rec movies', even though done pretty good, gave me the poops. All that shaking

I am looking forwards to 'Troll Hunter' though, the thought of watching this makes me all giggly like a little school girl

    The Rec movies are amazing

I also find it funny that some people look for realism when it comes to horror. The only horror movies that seem..possible..to me are slashers..and even those aren't because the cliff hangers usually have the attacker surviving insane deaths.

I don't understand how one enjoys horror movie if they don't like the fact that 90% of them are not possible in the first place. I agree some movies go a little overboard with the nudity and such, but that's been a horror tradition for decades. Even the early films have beautiful women. You don't see any ugly bitches running around in Dracula. You want the people on screen to be easy on the eyes because, well in the early movies, it was traumatizing seeing such a beautiful girl die. Now horror films do it because people will applaud it, wanting to see these people die. The skimpy outfits and the dumb bitches are a necessity because it's a more rewarding feel to see them die.

Only times I don't like when movies do that is in movies like House of Wax where Paris Hilton was only in it to die. Shit like that bugs me because she wasn't put in the film because of her acting ability, or looks for that matter, but because people want to see them die. It's stupid.

I do tend to stay away to paranormal activity type films but I'll take alook at any horror related movie. I dig After Dark, Sy~Fi, SOV...sent right to DVD. The more mainstream or popular I usually take my time to watch. I'll eventually get to them.

My love lies with underground cinema. <3

Rape scenes kind of get to me as well. Not only because I’m a woman, but the one in Ichi the Killer was so real it was disturbing…
I'd say A Serbian Film is worth watching at least once. As I said, the pedophilia factor in that movie has been dialed back in the American release; it's more implied than actually shown, which makes it a little easier to sit through. The rest of it? It's there in all its grotesque glory. Even so, it's still a rough watch. It will stick with you for quite some time. There are a bunch of twists and turns in the film, and the ending WILL kick you in the head. Be warned. A Serbian Film is by far the most fucked up movie I've ever seen. As I said, having seen the film a second time, most of those scenes seem more over-the-top than anything else. But if rape scenes get to you, you might want to avoid it. I like to take the tag line from the original Last House on the Left: It's only a movie. It's only a movie.
