What's the name of this movie?

I remember a film I saw when I was a kid which terrified me!

My memory of it is patchy but it was about a family who pick up a hitchhiker. He's the spitting image of the father - like he's the evil twin or something? I also remember that there was something important to do with the man's finger too. There is a twist at the end after the stranger is killed but it is then revealed that he swapped places with the father and they realise when the mother sees his finger?

Can anybody help?!
