1. I think it was in black and white. The beginning has 3 people in a tiny plane making an emergency landing at night. They see lights, and land. In the morning, they realize that it wasn't an airstrip, but a mainstreet of a little town. They set off to find help. But everyone they encounter is in a trance. Repeating the same motions over and over. Eventually the 3 people try to leave, but discover a forcefield around the town. One of the guys tries breaking through with a car, but the car just explodes. Then the 3 see one of the townspeople get lifted into the air in a beam of light. Days or weeks go by. They notice it never rains. Eventually they find a barn that borders the forcefield and dig their way under. Thats all I remember.
2. I saw this sometime in the late 80's. Don't remember a whole lot, but the story revolved around a videotape that when you watched it made you kill other people. I think there was a shadowy group of people, that I have the feeling were actually aliens.
It's not "The Ring" or "Videodrome". I remember a very weird ambiance to this film, including the score.
As for the first it sounds like an episode of the 'Twilight Zone' or similar show.

I've often thought it might be. I've seen it twice that I remember, both times when I was very young. I've never been too sure of how long it was, but it was definitely longer than 30 minutes. I think. I know that "The Twilight Zone" did a season of hour long episodes. Maybe I can look through an episode guide. I wonder how many hundreds of episodes there are...
