Recommendations for movies to watch

I have reservations about downloading torrents, but some films are nearly impossible to find, or not distributed in the U.S. I try to resist the urge to grab brand new movies.

As far as torrents go, you're good as long as you continue to steer clear from the mainstream stuff. I don't use torrents unless it's an old hard-to-find horror flick or an azn movie. Otherwise, I use file hosts

Not familiar with either of those, azn movies or File Hosts. Care to share?

Azn movies = Asian movies

File hosts are as the name suggest -- servers that host files. People will upload split files of a movie or show or anything and place it up on sites like filesonic.com or hotfile.com and if you know the link, you can download the files. It's the safest way to download, much safer than torrents. Although streaming is even safer than that, since you don't even have the file on your computer at all, as its hosted on an online server

I've tried streaming a couple of times, mainly from a site called Quicksilver, but it hasn't really worked out. Maybe the computer I'm using isn't up to it.

The quality and speed of streaming is determined mostly by your internet connection, but it might've also been the site you were using or, as you said, your computer.

I've had trouble deciphering some of the codes in the torrents.
DVDrip - easy
BR - Blue ray
Xvid - ?
NTSC - ?
NL or NLT - ?

I thought Demon was invite only, but I'm checking out a list right now.

xvid is Divx - usually an avi file and is a lot smaller in size than the full rips (on average about 750meg - whereas a DVD rip will be about 5 gig and a blueray rip about 10+ gig)

NTSC - US version - usually outputs in 30 fps - the UK version equivalent is PAL and outputs 25fps

NL - in my experience, refers to a Dutch full dvd rip (5 Gig) - which may include dvd menu items and sub files

It's just something that has been asked a lot in the past, so I guess people are tired of responding. I'm sure you can find similar threads just by browsing the forum.

Dutch would be the base language and DVDrip means the original wasDVD usually high quality where torrents are concerned
