    The Underground Genre.

This genre of movies has changed the way I view my movies now. I noticed this fully for the first time last night. Even though it may not be a true UG film I watched 'Little Deaths', which was amazing (especially the last 2 stories). Then I watched 'Waxwork', a film that seems to be popular here at UHM. I just could not get into it at all, felt like I was watching a movie made for children. I needed something stronger and more visceral.

I feel now I can no longer turn back and watch certain films that I used to enjoy. I need to be challenged with my viewing. I need HORROR more then comedy. I probably will watch more mainstream fare some of the time but more for the light entertainment/switching offiness type of viewing.

This stuff excites the fuck out of me and I can see by this I am growing as a human being.

The biggest problem with the Underground genre is that most of it is pure unaduterated crap , and only 10 - 20 % is worth watching

Like, so many people out there were trying to track this down. And it just...got delivered on a tweet. What the hell.

I cannot get into UG movies I have seen all of the AU's and Murder Set Pieces and in my opinion they all sucked. The one redeeming quality that AU had was the Special FX for a low budget they were amazing

I can enjoy some of the FX of underground horror movies, but in the end, if there isn't a decent story present, the movie has failed to live up to my expectations in a movie.

Underground movies are a refresher in independent or gorilla filmmaking! Granted there are some that are utter shit and others that are rather good, but you have to respect their efforts. These are individuals that use their own money to produce something that think is worth while from their surreal/disturbing images. I think in some sense, they keep the deep rooted horror genre alive! Maybe that's just me.

Exactly what I feel, why I am really getting into it. Some people here WILL disagree but then that is their perspective on things.

I fail to see how any horror fan can dislike underground or low budget films, I mean it's not like mainstram horror is supported by a vast infastructure of creativity! Sometimes one has to turn to indie films just for something original. If you need polished acting, stunning photography and an intelligent script to enjoy a film then your options are limited.
All film makers have to start somewhere, just look at Peter Jackson's Braindead - now the guy is like king of Hollywood with a trillion oscars to his name. Okaaay so the majority of UG films tend to be silly back-yard splatter efforts but every now and then a gem is produced so never write indie films off - they're the grass roots of cinema.
    End of my mini-rant

Underground horror is garbage. Shitty acting, shitty makeup effects, shitty camera work, shitty lighting, shitty everything. Why like underground horror movies when they have shitty stories and I cannot take them seriously? It shouldn't even be considered horror because the majority of it is purely laughable and the only redeeming quality out of any of those is the makers had the balls to even do such a thing. Why spend so much time and effort on a movie not many people will even bother to watch?

    just make a youtube series

Because they are making something that they truly love. They do it their way..no ratings, involment with companies that change what they have thought up in their own minds. No one telling them they can't do this or that. It's their vision that they bring to life. Underground films are made for underground horror fans..those few that really appreciated it.....and one way or another we all find each other and share the gore

Oh agreed, but my comment was to Fulcento's ignorant comment "I don't see how any horror fan can dislike underground films" when clearly there are plenty of real horror fans that don't.

I know a lot of people who love low budget horror, I just don't understand it.

Going with that line of thinking directors such as Argento, Romero, and Carpenter they'd still be no - body's today. Sure they weren't underground, but they didn't start off as being mainstream either. Without searching through independant films , and yes even underground pictures tomorrow's Argentos , Romeros , or Carpenters will never be discovered

I agree. I would never say ''you're not a true horror fan'' if you don't watch UG films. Its an acquired taste. I knew nothing about these types of films til I joined UHM and met cataclysm He awakened the love I have for these films today.

Also its really funny when I look at a new gore film teaser or trailer I scroll down to comment and I know practically everyone that has posted a thought... We truly do find each other.

Without independent cinema and auteurs such as Jackson, Raimi, Van Bebber etc etc horror would be a watered down, anaemic parade of endless slashers, remakes and Twilight clones, I know you've got it in for me DM but don't call me ignorant for having a wide range of tastes, I like Deadbeat At Dawn as much as I like Poltergeist and I'll rate a film on its own particular merits - not how much money it cost to make or how well it did at the box office.

I obviously don't have it out for you and I don't think you're ignorant for having a wide range of tastes. I found you ignorant when you stated that you cannot understand how a horror fan could even remotely dislike underground horror. I just spoke with Wooden how I know a lot of people that dig the genre, I just don't understand it. You, on the other hand, just can't phathom people disliking the genre? Why? And yes that's why I called you ignorant. I realize that others like the genre, you can't realize that people don't. Then by saying, "Well I don't see how a horror fan can't like it" Yes that's ignorant.

The reason that you think I have it out for you is because 99% of the time you post ignorant comments and I call you out on it. Instead of commenting on how you can't imagine people not liking the genre, maybe you should post some good UG movies to check out and not be a dick about it.

So to disprove that you've got a vendetta against me you post a lengthy reply concentrating on one sentence within my latest post? Can you see the irony there?

Well I've seen a few UG films and I hated them all. I don't recall their names or anything, but it was enough for me to give up on the genre all together. I don't want to keep watching Ug films if the majority of them I watch are garbage ya know? If someone gave me some good flicks to check out then I'd definitely give them a chance. But for me to blindly pick a movie that I'm 90% sure would suck..that won't work.

and Fulcento, the reason I replied to you wasn't to stick up for myself and try to disprove how I don't have a personal vendetta against you. You really think I care what you think of me? Please. Just stating how you are ignorant and you are doing a good job proving my point over and over.

But hey let's stick to the thread and maybe since you stated that comment about UG films, why don't you give me some great UG films to watch big shot? Instead of repeating yourself, I'll ask again. Give me some recommendations if you are so quick to judge on how real horror fans don't watch UH.
