    Oh KING!!! LMAO

Back in the day I had one of my students ask me if Spain was near Mexico. All I wanted to do was smack him in the head and point him to a world map.

[REC] is one of my all-time favorites, and I loved The Orphanage. Cronos was also pretty good; I think it was one of Del Toro's first. From the "Films to Keep You Awake" series To Let was my favorite. Sweat is also pretty good, and pretty recent, I think. I'm also looking forward to Flatmate (Sleep Tight is the US title I think?). I hope it's good.

What is amazing to me is that Guillermo del Toro wrote the story himself.

In Peru we have like 4 or 5 horror movies, but really bad ones (bad acting and script) Most of them based in legends from our country but i don't recommend them.

Just in case i remember some of the titles so you can avoid them (you can find their trailers in youtube):
    Jarjacha
    El Tunche

Who Can Kill a Child? is one of the best Spanish horrors I've come across, also Amando de Ossorio's Blind Dead films. Whilst most people prefer Tombs, Night of the Seagulls is my favourite.

Another great Spanish horror film is Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll (AKA: House of Psychotic Women) starring Paul Naschy. It's a Spanish take on a giallo, and is packed full of suspense and some nasty murders.

    To Let is pretty decent.

Sleep Tight is very good, if anything difference this Balagueró's film with respect to previous is the positioning of the viewer. It forces us to put ourselves in the shoes of sociopath. Forget about being the victim, we play to be the "bad guy".

    Who Can Kill a Child

As for the Rec films for whatever reason I could never really get into them. Of all three I thought the 1st was the best, then the latest one was pretty decent but not fantastic. Maybe I need to explore them again another time and my views may change We will see

No moriré sola {I'll Never Die Alone} was great. I really liked it.
Room For Tourist. Some brutal scenes in this B&W film.
Tesis. The ending is just fanatasic.
Kidnapped. Home invasion movie, one of the best.

I've been with Iglesia for a great deal of time[since Accion Mutante]. The Baby's Room is very decent.

La Residencia or the House That Screamed[an unfortunate dubbed version] has got to be a must for horror/gothica fans of the 60s-70s era.

Who can forget Let Sleeping Corpses Lie / Living Dead At Manchester Morgue? To me, it ranks up above with the best of zombi flicks.

Two CasaNegra[rip] films I'd rec with gusto are: The Witch's Mirror & Brainiac. 50/60s gothica from Mexico.
Carlos Taboada made a few interesting contributions to the genre with El Libro de Piedra er Book of Stone - >and Poison For the Fairies [Veneno Para las Hadas].
Arturo Ripstein gave us La Tia Alejandra which has a cool creepy about it.
    >El Charro de Los Calaveras: thumbs:
BLOODY VAMPIRE and WORLD OF THE VAMPIRES follow-up on INVASION OF THE VAMPIRES... All solid in my book.

As for modern day horror... can't say any are noteworthy...
