Greetings ghouls and drools...
While new to this forum, well kinda of, Here we can kick off with Vampires! So to lets get started...this is my second favorite sub-genre and also a "cultural zeitgesit that JUST WON'T DIE!!!" (either)
I know this has been done before but there is no escaping this sub-genre, like Zombie films they just won't go away.
My top picks:
* Horror Of Dracula (1958)
* 30 Days Of Night (2007)
* The Night Stalker (1972)
* Fright Night (1985)
* The Mask Of Satan (1960)
* Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
* The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967)
* The Night Flier (1997)
* House Of Dark Shadows (1970)
* Let The Right One In (2007)
* The Omega Man (1971)
* From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
* Salem's Lot (1979)
* Cronos (1993)
* Nosferatu (1979)
Honorable mention: Blade (1999, The Vampire Lovers (1970), The Lost Boys (1987), The Brides Of Dracula (1960), Shadow Of The Vampire (2000), Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter (1973), Near Dark (1987), Dracula ~ Prince Of Darkness (1965) & Interview With The Vampire (1994)
Thoughts?
I'm NOT a big fan or fan at all of the wave of "teen heartthrob/angst-Twilight vampire tv series or movies that have been the trend for a long while now. Hopefully with the release of the upcoming Dark Shadows (2012), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012),UnderWorld: Awakening (2012) & Dario Argento's Dracula (3-D/2012) will inject new blood and interest into this sub-genre, maybe not?...
