One thing I hate about movies made from books is too long. THG was too long, like Dragon Tattoo (the Swedish version). Definitely not Battle Royale, but overall, good movie for teens. I wasn't too much into this movie, didn't make me want to go out and grab the books either, but still worth a watch. And also, the camera shaking motion drove me nuts. If you have motion sickness like me, beware.

True that DM, when we went to the theatre yesterday, there was a line that consisted of people around that age.

the book however has empty eyeball sockets dripping with blood..kid holding his intestines in ..axe's to the face and arrows to the neck...which i am enjoying but wifes insisted on seeing the flick...then her smart ass sits in the handicap seats...the whole time I am sitting there thinking a fuckin wheel chair couple is gonna come rolling in demanding their seats:lookaround:

technically the seats are for the people who are with the handicappers....

Not a bad watch. The film was very well paced. Moved right along. Couldn't really focus on the beginning fighting scenes because the camera was shaking like a mother fucker.

Woody Harrelson was awesome and so was the main girl, Jennifer Lawrence. Her partner, Peeta, well I kept thinking of him in FireHouse Dog.

I think the only reason they had the shakey camera scenes was because they couldn't get their PG-13 rating if they showed full on teenage bloodshed. Of course, maybe y'all are just beetches .

I'm not too keen on seeing this due to my love of the film it so obviously apes the shit out of. But I will give it a watch when the Blu-ray/DVD comes out.

I had no idea BR was the first story to portray kids killing kids or turning violence into spectacle. The man hunting man trope is almost a genre in itself. And how old is the phrase "Bread and Circus" anyways???

Most stories like this usually focus on the violence and the action, as a commentary on society's bloodlust. This story focuses on the actual survival in such a competition and living under oppressive rule. The film (imho) was better than the book. And it wasn't a great movie, but I was entertained. The First book is readable, but clunky as hell and constantly just dumps exposition. I gave up on the second book cause it was just terribly slow and badly written.

Honestly I would have thought a school shooting, like the recent Ohio one in February would have delayed a movie like this. But there was just too much hype and too much hot topic merchandise to stop the HG train.

Just finished the flick -- liked it. Good pacing and kept me interested throughout its 2+ hour running time. Have some minor gripes about certain things, but I never read the book, so I'll just ignore any issues I found during my viewing. Overall, a fairly entertaining watch. 7/10
