Not understanding how perception is shaped in the finishing of a presentation is a big reason why the non-filmmaker, corporate suits that run Hollywood studios these days screw so many things up in the middle of a production.

Also, there's no guarantee a trailer is using the right takes or scenes or not using material that's been left out. What seems great in script form, as words on the page, sometimes just doesn't work in reality. Then you have the non-linear nature of how films are produced.
So, in other words they are saying "Let's show our target audience anything we have even if it makes them prematurely judge our film and turn them off to it completely."?

If this trailer has done anything it has made the movie come off as a complete joke done by a hack director.

I don't think its supposed to be viewed by us... why would they release an unfinished product. And as for the screaming part, the sound doesn't match up to the scene, so you cant tell there is more there.

No, DG is right, general audiences were never meant to see this. But there's practically no way to keep control of what happens to media that also needs to be seen by certain people ahead of everything being done. Movies don't get completed to 100%, then someone goes out and starts the rest of what has to be done, generally. It's a process that can be fluid up to within weeks of appearing in theaters or on shelves.

It's risky, and often frustrating, showing anything even to professionals that should have no excuse for viewing through literal eyes but it often has to be done.

I agree, however with what is shown here unless they go back and film the entire movie over again this looks to be pure crap. Doesn't matter if we were meant to see this or not, there is no post-production magic that could make this watchable.

I guess I'm just not that picky about acting. I generally don't expect oscar-calibur performances in a horror flick, nor am I completely disgusted by a movie that is lacking in the acting department.

Some of my favorite movies feature some truly abyssmal acting.. as long as the movie gives me some enjoyable visuals and decent plot, I can overlook piss-poor performances by some less than talented actor/actress.

Will have to wait until I actually see the film before I can past any judgements. Though I can certainly say that Dario Argento, just like George Romero, have declined over the years. The last two final good films IMO were Sleepless and Do You Like Hitchcock?

Those clips of Van Helsing made me wanna hurl even more than the Twilight clips, lol. I'd gladly sit down and watch a Twilight box set over Van Helsing any day of the week.

I'm still of the opinion Argento is going for an Italian take on Hammer's campiness and willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't have Julian Sands in it, that's a plus.

I watched about 20-mins of this a week ago and couldn't get over the fact of how bad it was. I mean, it was so bad it seemed like Dario did it on purpose? or has Dario simply lost his mind?

    How is Dario Argento's Dracula?

Because I saw the trailer for it on Youtube and while the trailer claimed it was re imagined by a horror master the footage shown looked just like a generic Dracula film and looked kinda boring

This movie was beyond terrible. Worst Argento movie I've ever seen, worst Dracula movie I've ever seen, worst Vampire movie I've ever seen...maybe not the worst Italian movie, but it sucked pretty bad.

It's available to stream on viooz if you want to see it. It is extremely bad, though.

As much as I like Argento, I really hope he decides to quit before his awful films start to outweigh the good ones.

Damn right it's bad. Makes any Ed Wood film or Troll 2 seem like a masterpiece in comparison. This is totally inept film making.
