    Male Leads in slasher films?

Does it work? Can anyone name some good ones?

Could you picture a guy taking Sydney Prescott's place? I know they have used male CHILDREN from time to time but I cant think of any good men playing the lead role in a slasher film.

I cannot see why this wouldn't work.

I don't see why it wouldn't work either. I don't care if its a man or woman as long as people die throughout the movie. In Hatchet, Ben lives pretty much to the end. I'm sure there's more. The reason women work so well is because no one would believe a man getting harassed over and over and being in a weakened state and crying. It just works better if it's a woman to show the vulnerability, because most people would tell the man to be a man and quit crying and running away. Even though most women end up defeating who ever it is that's chasing them.

You know its funny you guys have this on topic. Cause i plan on writing producing and star in a horror film saga that breaks the female lead role in slasher slasher horror films.

Of course it would work. It just defies conventional wisdom, slasher movies are more often than not shit because they rarely differ out of the norm. I guess you could consider the Corey Feldman the lead in F13 The Final Chapter. That worked.

And Ash of course. Don't know why no ones mentioned that.

Of course Ash but that's not entirely considered a "slasher" series I guess. There are plenty of male leads in horror but within the slasher genre, I guess it's more uncommon.

Oh, it does say slasher. Didn't even read it again that's probably why I didn't mention it the first time:ehhh:

Nightmare on Elm Street 2...I think the fear factor works better for girls. Not a lot of guys running around screaming.
