Valhalla Rising (2009)

Sorry if anyone has covered this before but I'm still trying to get my
bearings around here so bear with me.

I only recently found this flick while browsing the Flix.
(2009) It's from Denmark and stars Mads Mikkelsen. Short on Dialogue, but beautifully shot.
Definitely not for everyone though. Don't expect an epic medieval action fest, but what
action there is often brutal. Ranges more on a cerebral level. One of the best movies I've seen in 2011.

I can buy that.
Sort of mirrored Once Upon A Time In The West with some of those drawn out shots I thought.
I wasn't necessarily ecstatic about the ending, but it definitely held my interest to want to see what happened next.

I suppose what I liked the most about it is that it wasn't the same cookie cutter fluff that hollywood cranks out...
although that being said - in places it wasn't especially coherant either.

All in all I liked it enough to throw a bit of cash flow expo at it... and procured it was.

That was the impression I got...most of the things happening was symbolism for spiritual stuff happening. Still would have been heaps better though with more violence.

The whole movie is an allegory to Odin from Norse Mythology, I need to watch this eventually.

The idea is to destroy your former beliefs and to become your own god.

I wanted something more. I went from liking it to not to liking to not... and then the ending sucked. Not my cup of tea.

It's a cerebral flick so taking that into account - it won't necessarily be understood or liked by everyone. The movie is also filmed in VI different parts.

It's a beautifully shot movie. Visually striking at times... painful and brutal at others. Not alot of dialogue, but with a flick like this there doesn't necessarily need to be. I wasn't especially happy with the ending, but it worked alright for it's intended purpose of nobility.

To me it's a gem that left me wanting more - and was sad, and a bit hollow when it ended. Those who appreciate a good foreign indie flick might want to give it a shot.

it was a strange horror movie. A one eye man that kills tons of people in the most gross way he could. He never talks. Give that one eye man an ax and you goting to be killed. Strange movie, with a all male movie other then the 30 seconds of seeing a group of big busted women with all being topless. Not a single woman ever said anything in the movie. Good for male bonding that loves fighting.

I wouldn't call it a horror movie, but it is an oddball flick. Probably what a medieval acid trip would look like.
