(not to be confused with the cartoon Ben 10)
Ben X is a Belgian drama about a mildly autistic (Asperger's) teenager's daily struggle with the world around him. His coping mechanism is the fantasy world of an MMORPG that he plays daily. Throughout the movie, he is harassed and bullied by your typical teenage shit-heads, and we get to see through his own narration how it affects him, while at the same time, we are given insight to the thoughts and feelings of his family and others via snippets of interviews.
The film does a great job of giving you a bleak sense of foreboding.. you just know something bad is going to happen, but it is difficult to know just what exactly it will be. Suicide, homicide, injury, insanity.. you just don't know till the end...
In the end, I enjoyed the flick and I won't go much further into the plot, as I believe to do so would entering into major spoiler territory. It wasn't quite what I was expecting when I saw the trailer, but I ended up thinking it was a pretty damn decent drama, and worth the time I took watching it.
I'd recommend it to those who like a good drama.
