I enjoyed the first film enough. I really liked the scenery in NY and how they captured how it would look in that future. I also feel that Will Smith did a good job with his role, going into mild insanity was believable to me the way he presented it. I do however think there are several actors that could have done a much better job. If they came out with a new one i would be looking forward to it.

Re: CGI
After this last year it's only become harder for make-up effects and other in-camera techniques to remain relevant or useful for productions at this level.
Steve Johnson's vampire, for the first IAL, would have been a better fit potentially, if they also didn't want these things to have full freedom of movement, fuggetabout the super-human behaviors (not well executed in CGI I agree wholeheartedly...Imageworks has good animators but they're working on their animated films and not in FX, or, when cross-training in the FX part of the building often saddled by Director clients that ask for stupid shit and they deliver stupid shit as good as stupid shit can be done...see:Zemekis). Also, it might have worked if they didn't need these things to appear in groups (since one vampire looks to require at least one puppeteer to ironically diddle the "uncanny valley").
SJ's vampires also likely came with severe lighting penalties, meaning they'd melt either in the sun or under hot studio lights. Fun fact: the "Star Child" in 2010 was irreparably damaged during filming because its delicate material got melted by the lights and subsequently they had to finish the necessary shots limiting angles so that you couldn't see the damage.
They often skip over the silicone or gel techniques on FACE OFF (or pretend that silicone or gel is somehow cutting-edge) because of this and when they don't and they're asked, "why did you decide to go silicone?" I want one of them to answer with something like,"because I've got a working set of eyes and know latex looks like complete ass on these digital cameras and looks like complete ass on film if you light it. That's why, Glenn."
Pretty much all of the current non-latex solutions carry both weight and heat penalties and cannot be used in daylight or for long periods of activity due to fatigue with talent. Forget about it if you're using A-List talent. Even someone like Jet Li comes with serious make-up riders and restrictions, to the point of asking, "why the fuck are you doing this movie at all, Jet? You delicate flower you."
Still, they may have some time yet in the sun (though, not really in the sun). But practical effects for what were the "battleground" applications have now swung even further out of appropriateness.
TLDR version: the in-camera effects disciplines need to get off their asses and invest in material and mechanical sciences so that they're not constantly crying over their 1970s level technology and techniques not being an acceptable lowest common denominator, driving the lack of freedom of movement, composition and setting for a major motion picture. Evolve or die. Gloves off, no sympathy for these people any longer.

Can't be any worse than the first one, which IMO is the 2nd worst horror film of all time.
(BWP being #1 of course)

I really enjoyed the first movie so I cannot fault or complain about a sequel being made, just wish there were more original ideas for upcoming movies out there.

I tolerated I Am Legend. I think it would be wise on their part to use less CGI for a sequel.

I thought the CGI was good, apart from the Lions at the start which looked a bit naff.
