There are a lot of comedic moments in all horror movies if you look hard enough.

True, but like I mentioned, in T E D they are just a bit over the top...almost like Dead Alive.

It's campy and cool, but I never really got into like I did the Dead trilogy for instance.

What parts did you think were "over the top"? I would consider Dead Alive to be a horror comedy..but the Original Dead has horror written all over it. Just cause Cheryl gets raped by some trees doesn't mean it's over the top.

Exorcist is a solid horror flick..but every time she throws up insanely over the priest..it gets me rolling..

Friday the 13th and most slashers aren't horror comedy, but the kids would do and say stupid shit all the time.

All horror movies have over the top moments to them, but it doesn't make them a horror comedy. Each movie needs to be over the top or else it wouldn't be a horror movie.

Not trying to argue, just trying to see where you're coming from.

lol, u said it yourself...the tree raping scene for one. The constant zooming thru the forest straight toward the cabin was done one too many times for me..Maybe I should rewatch it again to better critique it but I the few times I did see it were enough for me.

I think this review by someone out there says it best:

" Darker, and scarier, than its hyper-kinetic remake/sequel, Raimi's movie melds chunks of Night Of The Living Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and - bizarrely - The Three Stooges, into a tense, gory whole. Unbound by cinematic convention, Raimi unleashed his free-range camera, and ghoulish, omnipresent sound effects to create a bleak, paranoid atmosphere and a raft of sudden, effective shocks."

Ash slapping Linda around is over the top and funny, though disturbing still.

I am such a huge fan of the original, I am a bit afraid of a remake killing it. Drag Me to Hell was OK for what it was, but it certainly wasn't spectacular. With Sam and Bruce at the helm it should be ok, I'm glad they're not going to try to recast the Ash character, that is Bruce and no one else.

I think I've made this abundantly clear before, but if my profile picture isn't enough of a giveaway, I love the Evil Dead. Without hesitation, I can say that it is my favorite horror movie of all time. And it's not just because of the content; it's because of the story behind the movie. These were a bunch of kids in their early 20's going out and pursuing a dream. No money. No professional experience. Just passion. It's what got me to seriously attempt filmmaking. If I end up making a movie that has half the heart of the Evil Dead, I can die happy.

That being said, this remake business has really got me down. Of course, I had not-so-secretly yearned for a sequel for many years, but when I first got wind of the possibility of a remake a few years back, I was reserved, but also a bit excited. The old crew was getting back together. The Raimi brothers and Rob Tapert were set to write and produce. Rami was set to direct. And then, as the ball got rolling, Raimi began to have less and less to do with the product. He's no longer writing. He's no longer directing. To me, that's what Evil Dead will always be.

I know that he has every right to do whatever he pleases with his creation, but as an aspiring filmmaker, I just couldn't imagine ever giving up the creative license to the first movie I ever created. Even if I never made a remake or sequel, I could never give something that is a part of me to someone else.

But, at the end of the day, I know full and well that I'm going to end up seeing it when it comes out. Because I'm a sucker.

I'm kind of on the fence on this one, I like the idea of Raimi giving a new director/cast a chance to make it big but at the same time I'm not getting my hopes up. Like many others Evil Dead is one of my all time favorite horror movies and one I can watch time and time again. Nothing could really tarnish the original IMO so I'm not worried about that. I guess I'll wait to hear more or see a trailer before I really make a judgement call on this remake.

I'm all for another Evil Dead film. I'm just not sure if it should be a remake of the original, but then where would they go with Ash in a sequel that wouldn't start to seem redundant and tiresome? Possibly have Ash pass the torch to some other poor schmuck that has come up against the evil forces ? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Like, so many people out there were trying to track this down. And it just...got delivered on a tweet. What the hell.

They could remake whatever they want, nothing will be as good as the original. Hopefully it's a decent remake, but I doubt it, since it sounds like it's not even really a remake. I'll give it a chance, but wont get my hopes up.

Out in San Diego to premiere footage from his upcoming OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, Sam Raimi spoke a bit about the remake.

MTV sat down with the creator of EVIL DEAD, who's also producing Fede Alvarez's retread, and when asked if he feels this update is honoring the original, he explains, "As for whether he sees the new film as honoring his original, Raimi said he doesn't approach it that way. "I don't think about it like that. I just think Fede Alvarez has really made a great horror movie," he said. "It's scary. The actors are great in it. It's really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense."

It's brief, and hard to imagine he'd say anything other than supportive comments, but hopefully he's also right.

EVIL DEAD is expected out April 12, 2013

    http://www.fangoria.com/index.php/ho...ew-qevil-deadq

Im curious about the "real low budget" comment. Hopefully this means it has effects work akin to the original. Blatent CGI would ruin the entire feel of what The Evil Dead is all about.
