Right now I think this movie is so hyped up by horror fans that even if it is truly mediocre or falls short of the insane amount of hype a lot of people will say they love it on merit alone. Not saying Iggy will do that but it will happen.

They are just being led by clever marketing, that's all it is. I've been suckered by these remakes before. Fool me once..

Absolutely. I plan on seeing this film Thursday night and then again on Friday, so I should be certain of my opinion on this film come Friday evening. I guess if it ends up being a total stinker the first time around, the next time I go I can always watch Jurassic Park in 3D.

It doesn't suck. It's not as good as the original but I think it maintains a little bit of charm and comedy while upping the brutality. I'd say it's easily the best horror remake I've seen in at least the last decade...maybe even the last 20 years.

Certainly not as good as the original, but it gave me some elements I hadn't seen in a long time for a horror movie. As other reviewers have said, "Love went into this remake." I felt the film ended way too early. Didn't realize how much Campbell was missed, but he certainly IS The Evil Dead main character. 7/10 but a really strong 7/10.

So it's just Evil Dead updated with more gore and no Ash.

The flick doesn't really offer much new aside from updated effects and loads of gore. I'd say it's a bit overhyped, but I had fun with it regardless. Ash is definitely missed here. 7/10 from me. Will have a more detailed review shortly.
