The Evil Dead Remake

I have a hard time believing that this movie won't be crap.

I'm kind of on the fence on this one, I like the idea of Raimi giving a new director/cast a chance to make it big but at the same time I'm not getting my hopes up. Like many others Evil Dead is one of my all time favorite horror movies and one I can watch time and time again. Nothing could really tarnish the original IMO so I'm not worried about that. I guess I'll wait to hear more or see a trailer before I really make a judgement call on this remake.

This just sounds like a bad idea to me. Im not a fan of remakes. And no Ash? Seriously. Im sorry but you cant fix something that isnt broken, and the original is not broken. So...dont bother!

In all seriousness how can you have a remake of a movie if you are not having the main character...why not just make Part 4 and just go with a new story arc with different characters.

They just announced that this will be premiering at the New York Comic-Con next month. I was going to give away my tickets to some friends but I think I will keep them now

Sony Pictures will premiere exclusive first looks at its horror remakes The Evil Dead and Carrie at New York Comic-Con next month.

The panel presentations, which will be held in the Javits Center in Manhattan, take place between 3:45-4:45pm on October 13. The Evil Dead panel will feature the film's star Jane Levy, producer and Evil Dead legend Bruce Campbell and director Fede Alvarez.

The cast is not very enticing to me. Also don't like the idea of the female lone survivor\lead. It's far too common now-a-days. I'll have to see what the trailer offers

A red band trailer was shown at Comic-Con. I guess it's only a matter of days (maybe hours) before it shows up online. Anyway here is an article talking about the trailer.

The one and only Ashley Williams -- the living legend Bruce Campbell -- appeared at the IGN Theater at New York Comic-Con today to premiere the first-ever footage from the upcoming remake of his classic horror film Evil Dead.

In a word, it looks great.

The footage -- which was basically a red-band trailer -- was received to a strong response by the fans in attendance. It felt very Evil Dead and yet very modern: There was a chainsaw, there was a possibly possessed hand that we see getting cut off, there was almost certainly tree rape. The famous Sam Raimi camera-speeding-through-the-woods shots were here too, and there was a lot of blood. This is definitely a remake of the first film, which was a horror flick, as opposed to the more comedic sequels.

I'm sure cheap bootlegs of the trailer will show up on youtube soon. Otherwise, an official version will probably be out within the week-or-so. In the mean time, check out the first pic:

I posted a trailer on my Fb page last night. Personally, it looks awful, and that's just from what I saw I know I'll be avoiding it. Some films should be left well alone, even if they are produced by the original actors and directors.

Is it just me or does the makeup in that picture feel like they are trying to go Exorcist with it? I do want to see a real trailer.
