A Good Day to Die Hard

This ridiculously-titled pic is the 5th installment in the Die Hard franchise, with Bruce Willis reprising his role as John McClane. Actor Jai Courtney joins the cast as McClane's son. Spartacus fans may recognize the actor as "Varro" from the series.

Directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen remake, Max Payne) the story sees McClane going to Russia:

A Good Day To Die Hard puts McClane on an international stage, truly a NYC fish out of water in Moscow, and introduces his estranged son Jack (Courtney). An apple that has not fallen far from the tree, Jack may even be more of a hardass than his father. Despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

The flick currently has a February 14th 2013 theatrical release set.

I'm not entirely opposed to a Die Hard sequel, but I'm a bit dubious of how it'll turn out with John Moore at the helm, since he doesn't exactly have a very good resume. I do like the whole idea of McClane going to another country though. I'll hold off any final judgements until I see some actual footage.

Seems to me that by taking McLane to another country, defeats the whole premise that made him such a hero (sic). John McLane was the American "real life" superhero who saves the US from terrorists - so to put him into Russia, is a very risky move on the part of the writers..

My bet - and you can quote me - will be that it turns out to be one of the biggest flops for years......

Probably more PG-13 garbage. And that release date doesn't seem like they are all too confident in it from the start.

I liked all three movies of the original trilogy, but I thought the fourth one sucked. I probably won't bother seeing the fifth one especially with a stupid title like that

The studio's just too attached to the original Die Hard title and they feel like they have to somehow include it in all of the sequels' titles so people can recognize it. MALARKEY! Eventually it would become so bad that they'd have a sequel called "To Die Hard Another Day".

Looks like they want McClane to be a lot like Jason Bourne and James Bond.

1. The original was a classic and still holds very well
2. The sequel gets a ton of shit but is better than 4 IMO
3. The 3rd was very good, arguably on par if not better than the original IMO
4. The 4th is watered down meh with a watered down Timothy Olyphant as the villain FFS he was more believable as the villain in Scream 2

Hopefully 5 trends torwards 1 or 3. Hell even the first sequel.

I think the Die Hard movies are fun flicks so I'd watch another. But they are really stretching it on these titles.
