    Pompeii

watched John Snow versus The Volcano last night. Glad I saw it for free cuz it was pretty boring up until the eruption which was actually a pretty cool part of the movie. Its just a bunch of people talking, and occasionally fighting and all of a sudden theres a Deux Ex Machina moment (accept its a bad thing) and theres an eruption. boom. over lol. blah. Me and my buddy did laugh a lot during it though.

spoiler There is a definite hilarious moment in the end where I yelled out "Here comes the titanic door logic!" and everybody laughed. So the movie is good for a laugh.

There have been at least a dozen movies already made about Pompeii, so this is just yet another remake.

Out of them all, I wouldn't mind seeing The Last Days of Pompeii (1959) directed by Sergio Leone.

I don't know a lot of the history, but they should have done something different than a storyline that had nothing to do with the volcano going off then boom its over. Maybe arguing with religious leaders about whats going to happen blah blah blah. Could have had a good underlining story with this movie. But instead its just Gladiator for an hour.

This movie was completely fucking ridiculous, but at least it was aware of that fact from start to finish. Quite simply, it was a cheesy disaster flick just like 2012 or any others, but it still managed to be a fun watch and provide some laughs along the way.

They did do a really nice job of depicting how Pompeii would have looked in it's heyday, having been there, the layout was spot-on and everything was very recognizable from the arena to the central market area with the temple, right down to the subtleties such as the stepping stones in the streets that people would use if the roads became flooded.

If you enjoy the occasional cheesy disaster flick, this is worth a watch.
