FYI, the last month's copy of Rue Morgue has a cover story on the "Cabal Cut" and describes its genesis and some of the differences between it and the theatrical version. I wouldn't be surprised if a bootleg of it was fairly easy to acquire though it does sound like they're acquiring the appropriate pieces to do a proper release. They have the blessing of the studio that owns the property now.

I never liked the theatrical version and was going to skip the article entirely but it was pretty interesting and now I'm looking forward to maybe see the real film one of these days as it was intended...as it was originally shot.

I finally got my copy and watched it. It's truly amazing. What they added in brought more depth and heart to the story. It's not just "we added more scenes to show more monsters" issue -- scenes were added that brought a sense of clarity to the film and to the character arcs of Lori and Boone. The re-dubbing of Bradley's voice made Lylseberg so much better. For any Nightbreed or Barker fan, this is a must own.

Not in any stores around me, which isn't very surprising, so I ordered it through amazon. Haven't gotten it yet since I was too cheap to pay for expediting since they decided to raise the price in order to receive free shipping.

Caught it earlier finally and liked it. I can't remember the original much since I had only seen it once years ago, but this new DC did seem to flow a bit better storywise. Some pacing issues in the early bits though.

The original was a real disappointment to me as a kid. I'm hoping this makes it a decent movie.

It's better, I kind of liked the original's ending more, but the directors cut is the better version. More to the story and more kills, along with a completely different ending.
