Well France has done it again and delivered another solid crime flick with Sleepless Night. Although it's marketed as an action piece, it's actually more of a tense crime thriller with action bits throughout, so don't go in thinking it's like the next Taken or something, because that's kinda like what the trailer seems to be aiming for, which is rather misleading.
The film is actually about a crooked cop, who steals some drugs from a local crime boss and the boss finds out and kidnaps the man's son. The cop has to give up the drugs or his son dies, so naturally he does what he's told, only things don't go as planned. I'd rather not spoil too much of the story, as it takes some interesting twists and turns as it progresses.
The whole movie pretty much takes place in a large club/restaurant owned by the boss in the span of one night. So when things don't go as planned, the cop has to figure out a way to get his son, so there's a lot of running around and evading the police and thugs while in the club (which is huge, by the way). There's some good action here and there, but not as much as the trailer would lead you to believe.
Either way, this is another interesting and solid addition to France's recent crime/thriller/drama lineup and worth a look if you're in the mood for that sorta thing.

France and other European countries are really pumpin' out some quality crime flicks lately. The US :finger3:
